There's more strength in hurling in Carlow than first meets the eye. They haven't been helped by the league restructures over recent years and so the senior team has gone back a bit. It seems every time they get promoted the GAA reshapes the NHL and they end up staying down.

And didnt a club team from there get to the club final couple of years back

That second goal from Wexford was superb. Two clever flicks in the build up, including the assist from Conor Mc.

Without bringing the catastrophe of Sunday into the spotlight again, it is a crying shame that our seniors can't seem move the ball with the same confidence and zip as our under-21's.

And Andrew Kenny and Padraig Foley must be considered for regular game-time for the seniors. Calling out for some fresh talent.

Big difference moving the ball against a Junior team towards against Kilkenny in Nowlan park.
Wasn't too impressed with Wexford tonight at all. Looks to be miles off last years team, although they never really had to get out of gear tonight.

Would carlow have a good underage set up?dont know anything about them.to run kk to 2 pts in it is a great result or was it a one off?

Their under 21 team beat a strong Dublin team in parnell park last year. Dublin would have had Sutcliffe, Crummy, Eamon Dillon and Ciaran Kilkenny in that team

Mouse Kavanagh for one is a serious talent

Carlow missed so many soft wides tonight, if they were to have any chance they needed more than one point from play from Mouse, even though he gave his all.

Mount leinster rangers won the intermediate club championship and a senior leinster title the following year only to lose to a very good portumna team in the club all ireland final. There are good structures in Carlow now so time will tell if this translates into the senior team

Looking forward to the Leinster Final tonight, should be a good game. Think Wexford will be strong favourites but Kilkenny won't give up without a fight so I think we will see a narrow win for the Yellowbellies. Kilkenny seem to have had a good first half and bad second against Carlow whilst Wexford did the opposite against Offaly so it will be interesting if that happens again.

I see Kevin Kenny included in KK team - he was very handy for UCC freshers this year - I expect he'll notch up a few scores

that said I hope Wexford get the boost of winning

KK have enough trophies to keep em going for a while

Wexford have responded well to the goal after 10secs. Think that's the last 1-5 they've gotten

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,467 ✭✭✭Very Bored

    Who got Wexford's first goal?

Apart from the first couple of minutes Kilkenny have been a fiasco.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,579 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Conor Mac with the first.

    3-5 without reply

This is like the senior match in reverse, disgraceful performance by Kilkenny to be fair.

Wexicans much the better side to be honest.

Unusual to see a KK team taking such a trimming. I remember a minor team a couple of years back losing to Dublin and only scoring 3 points but it wasn't televised

it was last year, and they ended up winning the AI final. Was a first round game and they hadnt their strongest team out by a long way.

We'll be in trouble in a couple of years time if this is all that's coming through.

I remember seeing the scoreline and assuming it was the football team. Think they were missing players cause of all Ireland colleges final on around the time. Still and all no KK hurling team should ever be only scoring 3 points in a match

wouldnt read too much into it. Most senior teams only get a few players off underage teams each year, if that. Ye won the minor AI last year, as well as senior, so the obituaries might be premature

is that the really the case? any obvious omissions from the team or are management up to it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,467 ✭✭✭Very Bored

This Wexford team is seriously good. Its as if everything has just clicked for them tonight. There was no, or very little, sign of a performance like this when they played Offaly.

No big omissions as far as I'm aware. Maybe it is the management though because whilst Dublin were better than us and deserved to beat us to be honest, we weren't remotely this bad that day. There'd be truth in saying that a player under this managment and then under Cody could be a very different animal.

Some excellent performances from the Wexford backs (3,6,7) but the KK forwards aren't worth a **** when it comes to winning ball.

Massive congratulations to Wexford from a Cat. Absolutely thoroughly deserved, that was a serious performance and must deliver a huge boost after the disappointment of the senior campaign this year. Now go on and bring the All Ireland home to Leinster!

What a brilliant performance from Wexford tonight. As a Wexford fan, it is surreal to see us take our goal chances and be at the right side of a hammering against the Cats for once.

Conor Mac is a joy to watch when given the service (take note Liam Dunne).

Kilkenny poor and no contest but enjoyed watching Wexford. Some lovely skill and hurlers, a good team down there this year.

Congrats to Wexford, we were poor tonight, Wexford by far the better team and deserved their victory.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,704 ✭✭✭citykat

Congrats to Wexford. We got our arses handed to us tonight. I hope Wexford go all the way. Raucous crowd in Wexford park tonight. Crying out for an AI.

I was watching this muted while listening to the Munster Intermediate final, Wexford by far the superior team, Kilkenny really poor. Some of the skill levels were surprisingly shocking.

McDonald was simply class, his vision and the execution of his passing was a level above the rest. Liam Ryan strong at full-back too. Who was the Wexford no. 7, I might have picked him for MotM, thought he was class?

Jack O' Connor - son of John. Great game tonight I agree, absolutely monumental point as well.

I didn't get to see the match, but by the sounds of it, Wexford were by far the better team. Best of luck to them in the AI semi-final.

Wexford and Waterford near neighbours but both have two great U21 teams this year and hard to see the AI title not going to one or other

Based on their lasting meeting, you'd imagine Wexford would be hoping to avoid Antrim....

Yes Leinster champs play Antrim this year.

Waterford will do well to come outta Ennis win a win three days after a Munster final....think it's 13 u21 on the panel I read

And if they get over that they will be playing the winners of Tipp and Limerick, Tipp won the corresponding minor AI and Limerick have a serious panel with the two Lynches, Le Touche Cosgrave, English, Morrissey etc.

Be a very brave or foolish man to be predicting the Munster U21 champions.

Another great match to look forward to tonight. Waterford look very strong, especially at the back. Tiredness from the senior final could bite them though.

Think he is doing a great job and is consistent, every one of those calls have been correct and its not his fault his fellow referees refuse to apply the rule correctly
