Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Smart TV can I receive catch up from Republic

I hope to buy a new smart TV shortly, while I haven't decided completely the Samsung UE48H6400 is currently leading the field

But tonight I was wondering about catch up TV. Living in NI I know the likes of BBC, UTV, CHANNELL 4 will all be there, but how about the likes of RTE, TG4, and TV3, will my Smart TV pick them up here.or will they be blocked because they are going into another jurisdiction. Can you go onto the manufacturers website and download apps, or are you stuck with what the TV manufacturer puts on?

At the moment I know little about TV apps so any advice welcomed

At the moment I have no difficulty receiving Southern stations away down in the 800 mark channels

    Kevin

If you can make your tv think your internet connection is from Ireland then you will able to use catch up services from here. I've not seen a tv that will allow apps from the UK and Ireland at the same time though.

While we can't discuss methods of circumventing regional restrictions, if your ISP is one that can allocate IP addresses specifically to Northern Ireland customers, you should be able to access most of the RTE Player catelogue apart from some foreign programmes and sporting events which are restricted to ROI customers.

I'm not sure what the position is with the TG4 player, but as TG4 is available terrestrialy in NI you'll likely be okay.

You'll be out of luck with TV3, unfortunately. You already have a better UTV Player than we do.
