Sure a guy I got talking to last campaign came number one on the panel for the Dublin Airport Authority firefighter, was in the job a few months when he got offered firefighter with DFB. But he still had to do every stage like any other Joe Soap. So not even in a different county.

Sure if you’re a fulltime ff in a different county you still have to go through the whole process again and do fire training again if you get dfb . Madness & a waste of money

Yea but DFB wants everyone trained to a high standard and all trained the same way.

When you get in dfb you can swap to go to USA like nyfd mad

The firefighter training in all fulltime brigades in Ireland is the exact same standard , same course . Just different county

Hence why if a ff permanently swaps from Waterford to dfb for example, they don’t retrain as a ff . They only do the paramedic course .

But sure they will have to do paramedic training anyway cause DFB only fire service in Ireland with there own ambulance service

That’s exactly what I said on my last post . Just pointing out that all the ff courses are the same standard .

Only difference might be specialist squad training. Working around ships, Heli training, rope rescue operations etc?

Lads. Now that them tests are over.

Seriously. What was the story with them dinky calculators.

The question about the trees in the forest, the figures where in the millions. My calculator started going into exponents as it could not put all the zeros on the screen. Totally useless for them questions.

WARNING!!! The tests are not over!!! There are more test this week for people who couldn’t do them for whatever reasons the past 2 weeks!!

there seemed to be different calculators scattered around the place. My one was the size of a small lap top so it had no issue with the millions.

Imagin the tourture if you make the panel and have to wait over 2 years to start training.

Lad I work with got on the panel was supposed to be in the last class, but declined as three years had lapsed between interview and start date. So that is a position that wasn't filled. He figured he couldn't take the hit financially. That's a fair point especially for people in well paid jobs expecting them to wait years is often impractical. Especially considering people's circumstances change dramatically over a three year period.

If I got it I'd also be taking a huge hit financially so alot to consider.

I personally spent the last 14 years working jobs specifically chasing a salary, this is the fisrt time ive made the decision to do something i actually want to do and I have made my peace with the salary cut.

To your point, there will be peole in the top 30 or 40 on the order of merit that will get offered the first recruit class and will not be able to stomach the pay cut never mind in 3 years.

Are you sure last friday was officially last day and it stated you needed to book in on the selected dates. There was no alternative dates available. Results are due mid December so doing tests this week would be cutting it fine.
