I am at a complete loss as to what I want to do with my life. I started off with Science Education last year which i hated, so i've spent the whole year trying to figure out what I'd like to do and I feel as if I'm no closer. I am considering doing public helth in ucc but i'm terrified that i'd end up in research after it or some admin job. I am a people person, that's why i considered teaching in the first place so i know that i would definatley not like to work in a lab. Is there any advice that anyone could give me as to what might be a good course option? In school my best subjects were Biology, Chemistry and Geography

Seems to me like you’ve got a very strange idea of what working in a lab or research environment is like. I work in a research lab and I’d consider myself quite sociable, as are many of my work colleagues – we socialise together quite a lot. Contrary to popular belief, science is in fact quite a sociable career.

As for admin, it’s almost impossible to avoid a certain amount of it, no matter what you do – “admin” is an extremely broad term.

I would suggest doing a science omnibus course, such as the one at UCD. You’ll get a good overview in first year of the various natural sciences, without having to commit to anything from the outset. A degree in science would leave you with plenty of options when you graduate – plenty of people-facing roles that in science.
