Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

recording on Sony Bravia tv

I need advice please. I have a Sony Bravia smart tv KDL-42W829B. I have a Sky + HD box and saorview aerial connected. I am wanting to cancel my sky subscription but want to retain the ability to record and pause the free sat and irish channels. I know my tv has the capability to record tv programmes using a USB HDD hard drive. If I get a hard drive connected will I be only able to record Irish channels from the aerial or will it be able to also record what is being received on free sat on the sky box? Will I need to replace the sky box with a freesat recorder with built in hard drive? If a hard drive connected with my current set up will work will any HDD external hard drive work? Sony web site only lists its own brand hard drives as compatible( of course), all of which are out of stock.

It won't be able to record what is shown on the sky box. Im not sure about the rest.

Thanks for the reply. I thought as much. It looks like my best bet would be to get a HD + freesat receiver either with a hard drive incorporated or a freesat receiver to which I can attach a hard drive. Anyone got any recommendations there please?

Your TV has an integrated satellite tuner, see this thread.

You could take 1 of the LNB feeds from the Sky box for the TV, & keep the Sky box in place as an extra tuner, in case you happen to be recording & want to watch a different programme.
