Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Just spoke to customer services and that's items are the only exceptions

    Hi Lorcan,

Thank you for getting in touch.

These vouchers can be used for most products, excluding lottery based items, tobacco products and baby milk formula.

I hope this helps and please let me know if there's anything else that I can do for you!

    Kind Regards,

    Jamie - Customer Care

    Three things

    1: "most" products
2: Customer Services are incredibly thick also
3: The T&Cs are blatantly clear:

"We do not accept spend & save coupons for the purchase of Gift cards "

At the risk of being shot by Vic (!!) may I ask if Dunnes Stores €10 off €50 Week 1, Week 2, etc. can be used in Tescos? :o

They're sent out with loyalty card vouchers.

Many thanks for not strangling me! Lol :D

It varied over the summer but this week it was Sunday. Both Lidl and Aldi in the World.

    This happened to me today.
2 people ahead of me had just over 40 Euros of shopping. When the bill was totted up, one person produced the voucher which the operator naturally explained couldn't be used.
The other person told the first person that there was no point in spending another 9 Euro just to save 10 euro!!!

I have six €50 vouchers saved ready for Christmas
It's never failed and I've used different Tesco stores too.
Last time the vouchers were out one boardsie used them to buy Argos vouchers and bought himself an iMac
That's what gave me the idea and I chanced using a voucher with a gift card

Have you tried this yourself ?

    Yes, I've tried myself.
When vouchers were first introduced earlier in the year, I was able to put some on a Tesco Gift Card, but as the weeks of vouchers were going by during the Summer, Tesco Head Office told staff to not to allow competitor vouchers to be spent on Tesco Gift Cards, and I was refused several times in different stores. It didn't make sense to me really: I'd understand them refusing a gift card for Argos or something, but I was wanting to put the money against a TESCO Gift Card (for future grocery shop), and so Tesco would be getting money from me in-advance of my actually spending it on more groceries, etc...IYKWIM.

It's to stop people using gift cards with more coupons in future

+1, I think someone was doing this already in some other thread.

I wondered if there was possibly even a legal issue, as its a sneaky way to get around the legal bans, as I think you can use a regular gift card to buy infant formula or tobacco, as they are not seen as promotional.

I also wondered about refunds or partial refunds. Like if you want to return a €10 item bought on a spend of €50 how does that work.

I will be checking boards in the future to see if any papers have double vouchers and buy it later in the day.

    People were doing it.
But a €50 card for €40. Then buy another €50 card for €40. Effective cost €32. Then buy shopping >€50, use a coupon and last gift card = €50 of shopping for ~€22. I think..

I've never had any issues with refunds of items bought in Aldi/Lidl/Tesco as part of a €10 off €50 shop, even though I've spent just over the required €50. Have always got back the full price of the returned item.

Well you can definitely get call credit as part of the 50 euro spend. Did it myself today. My mum is amused as I single person I use them but its shopping carefully and thrm type of items you buy. Did a 50 euro shop in tesco and the same in aldi with them today. The parents buy a daily paper and weren't using them all so I took them. Will probably get another shop in tesco with them again..ie call credit, shampoos, tooth paste etc won't need to do a big shop again for another 6 months :) well I am saving for my own place so every 10 euro counts

Great news. I wonder will Sunday World have both that and a Lidl voucher included like last weekend?

Sorry if this has already been asked before but does Supervalu accept the Aldi or Lidl vouchers?
    Thanks

Basically no. One or two individual franchisers have done it from time to time but it is neither regular nor a chain-wide thing.

The best thing about the Lidl voucher in the Sunday World is that it's on page 13 and if you know a friendly shop assistant or owner, they should give you the page as there's no bar code on the other side.

Call credit! never thought of that. I went to get spirits and it was sold out of the one I get. Spirits are expensive and easy to carry and store. I was wandering around looking for what to get to get over the limit and ended up in the clothes section, which I have walked past for years without ever thinking of looking at stuff.

    Washing powder is another.

    Irish Star Saturday €1.50
    Irish Sat Indep. €2.30
    Sunday World €2.45
    Sunday Indep. €2.90

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,876 ✭✭✭RayCon

    Last week the Sunday World @ €2.45 ... got you 1 X €10 off €50 Lidl Voucher AND 1 X €10 off €50 Aldi Voucher.

Lidl was on Page 2, Aldi was on Page 13 - the Aldi voucher can be easily missed as it's part of a full page Aldi Ad showing that weeks specials etc.

The rest of the paper can be used for starting a fire :)

Hopefully this week is the same ...

In McDonald's Stillorgan last Saturday, they had the bottom of the 1st page ripped to bits but 2 of the papers still had the vouchers attached .
People must have mistaken exactly where the voucher was.
