Golf simulators for home

At the early stage of an attic conversion - going to be a big room with a high pitch - and considering leaving an area for full swing hitting into a net/golf simulator thingy. Anyone recommended any decent ones?

The basic idea is something like what the boys on Sky are using with replica courses and such. Budget would be only couple of grand tho.

I actually reckon the op should be banned for this!

I'd hold off on the jealousy lads - for a couple of grand I suspect I mightn't be getting too much kit! I've only started looking around but something like this might be a goer.

It seems you can go to any figure really with simulators, 10, 15, 20k. My fear is that the 2k one may be very unrealistic and something I'd get bored of in no time.

I believe the flight scope can be got for about 3-4k. Here's a review of one version: http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/995483-flightscope-xi-review/

Again I am not overly familiar with it or any of them so I can't recommend any.

Skytrak launch monitor is new and affordable at $2000. Check out the review below.

When I first took up golf I got myself the Optishot Simulator, I set it up in my garage. I built a platform and added some artificial turf as well. At first I used a laptop and hit off the impact screen but it didn't give you that same effect you would get with a projector even though I was using it just to get some practice. I did eventually get a projector, and some of the premium courses look really good.

As far as accuracy goes, its as accurate as a 400 euro simulator will get and helped me out in the long run but maybe that's because I was a complete beginner. My son's friend tried it out and he said that his distances using the driver were nearly the same. Basically I had a lot of fun with it and it helped me build a somewhat consistent swing, but as I said I was a beginner, I don't know if it would be any use for low to mid handicapper.

I should have some photos stored somewhere, if I find them I will post them up.
