    Good morning
I would appreciate advice on how to achieve compliance with bldg regs for an external wall where there is a need to have minimum thickness - the situation relates to the construction on an upper floor to the rear of a terrace where the planning criteria requires 2m separation from neighbour's boundaries - external skin lightweight construction.
    thanks

have you an architect / engineer/ technician involved currently... and what do they recommend?

    Why focus on thickness ?
You also need to consider acoustic separation and if domestic, planning will also require that materials harmonise.

Thanks for the replies - focus on the thickness is because once the 2m separation between boundaries is applied -there is only an external width of 1600mm left - thus wall thickness critical !

Consider timber frame with external cladding. Its possible under 150mm. But really you should have a professional design done. Also consider the viability of the project overall.

Wall must be fire resistant if so close to a boundary.

You seem to be looking at a non starter.
