Imagine how good Spieth could be if he could putt

    I think he's a fantastic putter.

This is fascinating golf, where a par at any hole is a good score. If the greens were better, I would say this was a perfect US Open course

How come lowry is getting very little airtime?

I've always been a fan of Jason Day but today, to play well when he's unwell, fair play.

    C'mon Lowry though!!

Louis Oostuizens round today was probably the best tee-green performance ive ever seen. Honestly on any other course it'd have been a 59. So many putts left out there. He could be a massive player tomorrow

    66 Friday, 66 Saturday!

How good was that, considering he was long odds-against for even making the cut after a seven over par opener.

I've not always been a fan, given that he has a swing to die for - I kept thinking, "show me the money".

    I'm a fan again. ( for now... )

How am I going to stay awake for this tonight????? And I'm in France, so it is one hour later! But this is so enjoyable. Delighted to see Jason Day do so well but Lowry! Oh c'mon lad......brilliant chance here!

Going to be a big test of character for Dustin today. Once/if/when he can win his first Major, I think they'll start to flow.

Some idiot said he'd win 2 this year, com'on DJ.

Beware the injured golfer eh, just a damn shame not going to be able to see this one out tomorrow morning, just too late to keep the eyes open...

I'd be enjoying the golf a lot more if we didnt have to listen to Monty putting the boot into the course at every opportunity. He is some pain in the ar$e.

Completely disagree and I know I'm probably in the minority on this forum but Monty has been really good this week giving insight on the course and his general commentary. And his criticisms of the course.... well they are valid and fair play to him for not joining the PC brigade and instead speaking his mind.

I appreciate the fact that he's being outspoken and fair play for that, but I watched about half an hour of his commentary last night and he talked about nothing else other than the greens being too severe, bad surfaces, bad viewing areas for spectators.....people don't want to listen to that, constantly. The course obviously isnt up to scratch but you'd get very tired of listening to him bleating on and on about how unfair the course is.

Usually id be first to complain about monty but he really wasnt that bad at all,
he is actually having a good weekend with the comentary for a change.

I just jumped into this thread not as a golf fan but as a resident of Seattle.

I put on the TV to see how the Pacific North west was been represented on tv and what did I see but some shoddy badly unkempt gravel pit. It looks like an absolute mess.

As a non golf fan am I missing something? It looks like sh*t doesnt it? Bare patches of earth, brown and burned. I realise we're in a pretty serious drought on the US west coast so maybe this is some kind of new Drought Tolerant Landscaping maybe?

I think they have had an unusually dry May and June this year in that area of the US so the course is in far worse condition that it normally would be.

Yes. Most of the western US is in Drought right now.

Snowpack in the mountains and rainfall has been less than normal here in Washington State for 2/3 years now.

However, being one of the wettest areas of the USA, we havent had any water restrictions imposed. No advice to conserve. Nothing like that.

There's plenty of golf courses in the area that are in fine shape.

I must say I'm impressed with the Fox Sports coverage. Greg Norman and Brad Faxon are excellent, no nonsense contributors.

Pin positions aren't Championship Sunday difficult, which is disappointing.

Some players are getting very close with fairway irons.

Are the USGA folding under the player pressure?

Nice to see Billy Horschel carry his bag to give his caddy a breather...

    Nice profile of Shane there

Looking forward to an interesting night of golf. Hopefully a charge will be made by someone from the pack that sets -2 or -3 before the leaders get to their back 9's. If the leaders have a slow start and start dropping shots early on then anyone within 6 of the lead could win. Is there a 65 or a 66 out there???

The 1st is a par 4 again today and the last is a par 5 again? Should it not have changed from yesterday? Are the USGA being put under pressure?

The wind is coming in from the north so twould be hugely unfair to play into it considering the location of the fairway bunkers on the 18th.

    Exactly!

He's having a ball out there today. He's even carried his bag to give his caddy a break earlier.

Even if he does fade away calling him a bottler would be very harsh. He has had the 54 hole lead 6 times in Europe and won every one of them.

There's a pretty dreadful Irish comedian called Brendan Grace, who performs an act as a stereotypical inner-city Dublin schoolkid called 'Bottler'

I wonder what their excuse for not showing live golf is because they cant wheel out the usual one that the US feed is poor.
