I've been watching The Goldbergs, I love it but being reminded of all the stuff I forgot about from the 80's is making me feel old.

When gardai, doctors, look young to you.
people in hotels call you sir or madam.
You don,t understand the new music ,genres,
edm music etc sounds all the same too you.
You used to rent movies on vhs tape.
You used to record the top 20 songs on audio cassette tapes .
You remember films ,tv shows that are now being rebooted ,from the first time round,
eg the man from uncle tv show . thunderbirds .
You remember there was just mtv for music videos ,
now there,s 20 plus music video channels .
mobile phone batterys lasted a week,
all you could do on a phone was talk or send a text .
pc games used to come on 10 3.5inch disks instead of dvd discs .
You remember using a 56k modem to acess the internet,
    before broadband was avaidable .
You have given up on keeping up with new bands, singers in music,
you mainly listen to 102 fm ,
    classic radio stations .
You become invisible to women under 20,
they only talk to you to ask for directions .

When you ring a service provider or your bank from work and you are asked to confirm your age and you realise you are going to have to say it out loud and your (younger) colleagues will overhear you, and you pretend to have a fit of coughing and lean under the desk pretending to be looking for something as you say it at high speed....

If you can't remember a time before what I've highlighted in bold then you are still young in my opinion!! :)

A former boss of mine used to get me to buy a bundle of signed mass cards in advance, I'd have to go to the parish centre and ask for about 10. I used to have to phone in the names of the deceased as they passed away so that a mass could be said for them.

    this is hilarious....

I recently thought I'm getting definitely old because I got so extremely excited about buying a new iron...and I couldn't stop thinking about it how awesome it must be and I wanna finally go and try it!

    oh dear...

I'm nearly 50. I know I am getting older because I have recently become completely invisible to the opposite sex. No matter how much I try to look well, dress well and keep in shape, I garner ZERO INTEREST whatsoever.
I might as well let myself go and turn into an Irish Homer Simpson at this stage....
God, I miss flirting and getting the glad eye at least every now and then.
Gah - maybe I should try being gay - those lads seem to keep going forever

When you see an interview with the redhead from the B-52s - Love Shack etc etc and she's talking about her upcoming 70th!!

(A bit before my time but seriously, nearly 70!?!?)

Also realising the millennium bug was 15 years ago...

Also Bart Simpson is now about 36.

Debbie Harry is 70. That's 70 years old!!!!!

    (I still would*)

    (*If I am still able)

I bought a bagless hoover for the first time and was giddy as a schoolgirl at the thought of never having to buy any more hoover bags. Wohoo, let the good times roll! Livin' la Vida loca!

Luxury! I used a 14.4k modem in school in the early '90s. Uphill in the snow both ways, etc.

My husband is developing an ever more paranoid obsession with measuring the depth of the kerosene in our oil tank. He has a special stick for it, there's also the stick for stirring paint:D

Wow I do that as well with the kerosene I even have a mark on said stick whereby if the level is below said mark I order more.

You show family members between one and two decades younger than yourself how to play.

Finding out childhood TV heroes are in fact dead over 20 years. Remember Andre the giant or A-Team Hannibal?. They both died over 2 decades ago. Rudy hell.

When the wrestlers you watched when you were younger begin to retire or have already retired. Only Kane and Big Show are still wrestling somewhat regularly from when I started to watch it.
When you find yourself accompanying your parents to their various medical appointments. Also, when you find yourself having the odd random morbid thought that it'll be you giving the eulogy at their funerals because you're the eldest.

I bring my mother to her various medical appointments one as she doesn't drive and two as she prefers to go to appointments with someone as she sometimes forgets details.

A new family moved into our estate.
They have a small 3/4 year old who sometimes plays where we park.

During the week, he was pretend shooting my OH when we parked.
My OH played along and said "Don't shoot! Don't shoot!"

The young fella said "I'll shoot you :)....and your Dad too! :)"

    :(

When you get to 30 you give up counting. When you get to 40 you just give up.

You re-discover that braces are a superior way of holding your trousers up. Belts don't really work if you don't have a clearly-defined waist ... :o

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.
