Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Said it from the get go that O'Neill and Keane are not good enough. Pathetic.
The team needs to take a lot more flack. O'Neill can't touch Seamus Coleman how to cross under pressure. That's basic skill that he's lost in a year.

And Poland thump Georgia 4-0. Fin.

We are truly the draw masters. Absolutely awful.

Only Hoolahan had the balls to get on the ball the rest seemed happy to pass on the responsibility. When we had the courage to play we looked good, too many shrunk when it was put up to them. Shame.

Coleman was bloody dreadful. O'Neill should have just told the team to retreat every time he got into a crossing position, such was his knack at hitting a Scottish player dead on

Gutless way to surrender the campaign

What is Whelan ****ting on about - "all round good performance, deserved more than this".

    "It's not over yet."

    Admirable optimism, George.

    We are where we are.

4th in that group is about our standard, time to accept it.

That team has no business in a top level tournament.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭edgecutter

That's Scotland through now. Far more organised and better coached side. We looked clueless and now need to beat Poland or Germany which is mission impossible.

  • Registered Users Posts: 568 ✭✭✭Tomagotchye

Think it's a fair reflection. Not enough creativity in either team to win outright and ultimately two scrappy goals. Bad result for us

Dont know what your gripe with Given is, the ball took a deflection and I couldnt see Ford getting to it either. If anyone is to blame its the defence for not closing down the shot in the first place.

A point is a good result i was expecting a loss because the team is ****

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,758 ✭✭✭Laois_Man

Whats Whelan ****ing on about saying we deserved more?

Did the Scottish keeper have one single thing to do other than pick the ball out of the back of the net after a goal that should've been disallowed?

Given was no covering where he should have been covering regardless of the deflection.

You forgot to put in the rest of my sentence, I also said because the team is ****, The players are not good enough league one standard at best

Has James McCarthy ever had a good game for Ireland?

To be honest I wish I could lay the blame at MON's door but we just have limited players. I can't say nobody gave 100%

Another disappointing result.. reliant on mathematics and favourable results to even have a chance :(

Have to agree, best player was our left back. Midfield is not up to standard

My gripe? Don't make me laugh, Given is the clown who went to the Euros and after an embarrassing performance claimed he had hidden an injury.

Given should never have been brought back after that, there are options and a good manager would blood the same and build their confidence

Darragh Maloney doesn't have a clue.

McGeady scored in the 90th minute against Georgia.
O'Shea scored in injury time against Germany.
Long scored in injury time against Poland.

Jesus, we're lucky to not be on four points, three of which came against Gibraltar.

Ah come on now, we are a team filled with 1st division and mid table players against poland holding champions league regulars. We reflect exactly where we should be in the table.

And Scotland have been in this campaign

Look at Northern Ireland, Iceland and even Scotland, that excuse doesn't wash with me. It has become much easier to qualify for this tournament and we simply have not done what is needed time and time again.

What is James McCarthy good at? I've watched him play for 4-5 seasons now and despite being really highly rated I just don't get it, he is extremely passive in midfield never looks like stamping his authority on the game. And it's not underperforming I just don't think he is up to it

    Dunphy actually being strangely balanced.

We are very poor in central midfield, no leadership whatsoever in the team.

Dunphy making sense here regarding the standard - we're nowhere near good enough to be competitive :(

Bad goal to give away at start of second half. Reminds me of the easy goal we gave away against Poland. We played well but lacked concentration at beginning of second half and payed dearly for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,483 ✭✭✭brianregan09

Wouldn't be surprised to see Germany and Poland both batter us

To be fair, the devil couldn't have handpicked worse 3rd and 4th seeds to play

Given was no covering where he should have been covering regardless of the deflection.

Same as the Thierry Henry goal, Given should have stopped it but he was too busy pretending to be a distraught fan/referee

Goalie? Stop/retain the ball - save the drama for yo mama
