Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I hope the officials don't try to even things up. Whelan and McCarthy are on yellows.

It wasn't even a borderline decision, he was comfortably offside. Not a difficult one for the linesman to get right.

    Brady whips in some ball.

One of the main tactics before the goal went in seemed to be trying to píss Brown off enough that he'd do something stupid, might actually work now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,224 ✭✭✭✭SantryRed

Straight into our shells. O'Neill needs to have a word at half time and ensure that doesn't keep up. Our 11 players need to be men and take the ball and keep it and not be afraid.

Brilliant deliveries from Brady so far.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,325 ✭✭✭RoryMac

Should've got a touch on that

Roy Keane has the socks on, might make an appearance.

I thought he was brining himself on there when Hoolihan was down injured... He'd have thrived in a game like this.

As regards the goal... We have never had any ****in luck off officials in big games so about time one went our way. Strachan will be spewing though haha.

    Poland 0-0 Georgia - HT.

Its a long time since Lansdowne sounded alive for a football game. Its great.

    All going well....

Just need Gibraltar to shock Germany (losing by less than 5 would probably do that)

Scott Brown might as well have been standing beside given ffs.

Brilliant atmosphere but on another note, I wish we had more chants. Being in the crowd it gets very tedious singing the same 2 or 3 all game. Sounds great on TV though.

    I wouldn't change the team

Great goal by Walters. Come on Ireland you can do it. They are playing well anyway for their ability.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,829 ✭✭✭✭Panthro

1-0 at hal time class. Roll on the second half.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,325 ✭✭✭RoryMac

Decent 1st half from Ireland, Whelan having a good game. Need to keep this up 2nd half

Ronnie is an arrogant so and so. He knows he was offside but he wont correct himself

The worrying thing is Ireland will sit deeper and deeper when really the game is there for the taking.

Best Irish half I've seen in a long time, even if the goal was ill gotten

    Full kit w4nker

Scotland really poor, did they have a shot on target?

I expect the next 45 minutes will be very tense. If we could get an early goal that would be brilliant.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,480 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Can you be offside from a save.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,736 ✭✭✭Bleating Lamb

Terrible standard of football,as an attacking fullback Brady is great...lets hope they don't get in behind him second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,309 ✭✭✭✭wotzgoingon

Two penalties should have been giving. back pass and also the hand ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

Whatever about linesman, the official behind the goal surely should have seen the offside?

    neither were intentional.
Back pass gives indirect free kick.

Eh, you don't get a peno for a pass back

Ah here, stop complaining we got the goal not as if it was Scotland. Sure walters got pushed over no free giving. lines man right in front of him. One of Irish players got a elbow in the face no yellow card. Irish player done that got a card.

That backpass was a brilliant con to be honest. That was 100% intentional. Ref let them away with it.

The handball was a total accident and his arms were in a natural position. Can't be giving that.

Back pass doesn't give a penalty, you should know that

Depends where you are when the shot is taken, Walters was offside for Murphy's header.

Not that it matters now, fully deserve to be in the lead at HT

  • Registered Users Posts: 568 ✭✭✭Tomagotchye

Delighted for Murphy getting back into the team too. We really need options up front and he gives that

I thought most people knew that one; it comes up regularly on these online "you are the ref" type quizzes.

well now I don't know how I should know that I only support Ireland and only watch ireland matches and sometimes champions league matches as well. I also watch some of the world cup or European cup matches. I also do not claim to be a football expert.

Walters offside but not involved when Murphy headed it, keeper saved it, walters then
scored. Bit of confusion maybe for Ref, sencond phase of play maybe.

Thats not how the phase of play rule works. He was offside when the header came in. It was offside. We got away with it.

Frankly we are nearly always on the end of bad decisions so its about time we got one.

What? Don't over complicate it. It's the exact same phase of play. The linesman just missed it. Simple as.

Not a chance, Walters right in front of the keeper = involved. Just a bad decision by the officials. No complaints here though!
