Very simple either use es file Explorer to transfer via WiFi from your phone or transfer app via a USB.

Mods: a lot of addons went down today. Is it OK to say which and Why?
First of all the forum mods don't have time to read every post in every thread so more than likely they wont have seen your question.

Secondly, and as pointed out by others, I don't think you need to mention those add-ons at all otherwise you would be running the risk of having the thread closed.

Just as a FYI for future reference. The best way to get an answer to a query is to PM one of the forum mods rather than ask on thread. But in this particular instance I wouldn't recommend that though.

Options for apps are limited to Android TV. Normally Android apps won't appear in the play store. You could use an APK for certain apps though.

Exceptional value ,the site gets good reviews on trustpilot if that is any help

I bought my U9 from Gearbest and I see they are selling U9+A3 remote for $146 which is also good value but you may have no need for the remote.I'm using the A3 for a few weeks now and find it excellent by far the best air mouse/remote if used.

Thanks for the heads up on this, but I'm torn seeing as it will be an additional 25EUR to the customs man!
It's currently available for 135GBP direct from Minix (via Amazon).
I think I might shell out the extra few quid for peace of mind, just in case anything goes wrong with the box.

Damn it and I was almost sold on the Droidbox T8-S Plus v2 until I saw this psot :)

Another very popular add-on is gone. They cited pressure over copyright infringement. It won't be 'rising from the flames' if you get my meaning. That's 2 within the last couple of weeks, the makers of NaviX shut it down as they said it was being corrupted by so much illegal and pornographic content.

Quite a few have been hit badly with sources being shutdown and no active developers to update them causing a mass exodus of available content....

There is a active reddit sub on the subject but in the meantime I've moved to apps instead of kodi

Ye are only reporting old news that everyone here will be aware of, but in doing so are putting the thread at risk of being locked. Please guys, don't let this fantastic resource go to waste!! :(

If anyone has any queries about what is happening in the world of Kodi add ons, I would politely suggest a quick Google search as the information is freely and widely available elsewhere....

But if the add-ons are dead why can't they be discussed?

Because, as any one who as ever used Kodi knows, when one add on goes, another one comes along pretty much straight away to replace it. How many great add ons have been lost lost over the years and people were saying that it would never be replaced? Well, they were. And they were replaced with bigger and better ones. It's a load of panic over nothing.

Still plenty of sources for anything you need on Kodi and new ones appearing daily. The media thing will die down eventually when they move on to some other topic and Kodi will continue as always. Personally, the whole thing has had zero impact on the way I use Kodi and what I watch on it.

However, I'm running the risk of taking the thread into dangerous terrority myself, so I think I should leave it at that...

I just posted it as it's all over mainstream media, the only one I named was one of the oldest,Navi-x which had actually become an unusable cesspit of crap which is why the developers shut it down.
Nothing which would get us into trouble was named.
I'm well aware a quick Google will get people answers on certain kodi stuff and I don't discuss that.

That is my point, why can't we mention previous add-ons which are now useless? If you remember a certain add-on with dub in the name? Why can't I say the full add-on name as it hasn't worked in years?

This for me gives gangsters another opportunity to make more money fixing the fully loaded boxes they sold!

    Hi Guys,

I have an android box that i intend to use for IPTV. At the moment i use it for netflix and the rte player. Nthing dodgy with streams or anything just using some of the free iptv links around the place for channels like AlJazeera News and BBC News etc.

I have tired a few apps on it but, they all seem rather clumsy. The best i have tried is IPTV Extrememe but the epg is a bit messy onscreen. And you can only see the epg for that channel at once and it only shows that day as well.

I have tried Perfect Player as well but it doesn't record which is what i want it for as Al Jazeera has some great shows on round 11pm etc.

I thought I had sorted it with a programme called progtv but, i get an error processing my epg file that i dont get on the other programmes. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

I remember that add on well, very good it was too. He's still around but sticks more to his blog and YouTube these days.

You see, therein lies the exact problem. On one hand, you have "gangsters" (to use your word) making all sorts of promises (which are mostly false and/or misleading) in their sales ads and selling mainly crap boxes at vastly overinflated prices.

On the other hand, you have complete and utter idiots who do not have the first clue what they are buying or how it works falling for these "fully loaded" ads. They end up getting a rude awakening as they think they are getting a replacement for the Sly box which looks and operates the same way but they end up having nothing put problems because they have a rubbish cheap box with poor specs and don't know how to use it. I read a few forums relating to this technology and it's the same issues that crop up every day.

Personally, while I detest the sellers of these devices and their blatant lying advertising, I also feel that the blame must be pointed at buyers who do not do any research and are completely ignorant of what they are actually buying.

Oh FFS..........what were we just talking about??

"Nthing dodgy with streams or anything just using some of the free iptv links" - read the thread title, please. Or even just the last few posts.

For the record, IPTV (free or otherwise) would probably fall into the category mentioned in the thread title. Pretty sure someone was called out on that earlier in the thread....

No hassle, thanks for the heads up. When I say IPTV i mean i get the direct link to a feed form the website and create my own .m3u file. I do the same with bbc news 24 online. Just don't want to be flipping between apps or webpages to change a channel. I used use VLC player and paste in the links but, it was too tedious

Thanks for the reply though. Only really started looking into this properly the last few days.

I've read the title of the thread; I understand what it says and probably why it says it... no one should come hear expecting to get instructions on accessing copyrighted material illegally. That's clear and it makes perfect sense.
But probably we shouldnt get too dogmatic about it. If someone asks how to access the public, non-geoblocked BBC News stream through their Android box instead of through the BBC website or app, I think that is perfectly legit to discuss on here no?

Remaining cognizant of the first statement I made, streaming video content from the internet is NOT illegal in the EU. Even from non-reputable sources. Providing advice on how to do it probalby is... and this is why I imagine the title of the thread is categorical about it.
Just my 2 cents... dont want to create an argument for the sake of it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,754 ✭✭✭BandMember

@yoshimitsu - great post, and I would agree with what you said. :)

It's just that, as you've seen already, what starts out with an innocent throwaway comment suddenly leads to a discussion on how to use The Dark Net or something..... :P:pac::pac::pac:

Can you not make vlc just read the m3u?

You can do that with the TV clients in kodi, IPTV simple client will do it, should do EPG as well from an xml file

I dont wish to derail the thread and I wont comment further on this statement other than to say that streaming from illegal / non-reputable sources is ILLEGAL.

"the European Court of Justice found that set-top boxes and similar devices can infringe copyright if they are sold pre-configured for piracy. The Court also clarified that when users stream content from an illegal source, they too fall foul of the law".
