How do you manage to get six pints, a kebab and then a taxi back home for €50? :)

I'd have enough for 7 pints where I live, god bless the schticks!

An interesting point to note with this box is that with the 905x SOC, along with Marshmallow you can use an SD card as internal storage,

Does that not work with any device using Marshmallow? I was reading that the 905x was benchmarking slower than the 905. Thoughts?

Yes it does, but it's not something thats remarked on much, and in the case of the Minimx iii versus the minimxiii ii, the difference in price is only about €3.

In terms of benchmarking, I wasn't aware of much difference? The only test score I took note of was the Antutu score and I seem to remember both of them coming in pretty close to 36000.

What I was surprised by was the Antutu score for the S912 SOC based boxes, ie the Beelink GT 1 in this case, which wasn't all that much ahead, 37200 or something around that.

It would be enough for 12 pints and a bag of chips for me, no taxi required. :D I bet there's a few Dublin based people reading these posts and muttering swear words under their breath about us all... :pac::pac::pac:

And now, back to talking about android boxes!

    Hi,

I'm looking to get an android box but have no clue whats a decent one to get... I had a look through this form but I'm more confused as to which type to purchase...I'd be hoping to get something for under €150 but would be willing to spend a little more if needs be...

I don't have sky or saorview and want to use the android box for all my tv needs... Can you view all the irish channels on one? I watch a lot of sports as well so would like to be able to watch sky sports, BT etc...

So basically looking for something that would fit the above requirements, thats low maintenance and is easy to set up...

    Anyone have any suggestions :)

Sigh. Here we go again.... :( We can't talk about that here or the thread will be closed. It's been mentioned on pretty much every page so far to be fair.....

Anyone else order the Nexbox A95X today?
$32 from Banggood posted on hotukdeals but I found it afterwards from GearBest for only $26.

Edit: The Gearbest one only has 1GB of RAM

    Nexbox A95X Amlogic S905X 2G DDR3 RAM 16G eMMC ROM Android 6.0 2.4G+5.0G Dual Band WiFi 4K 60fps Kodi 16.1 Bluetooth 4.0 HDR VP9 H.265 HEVC Android TV Box Mini PC
    https://banggood.app.link/FdmBhGpjxw

The deal is up on GearBest for the next 2 days:

Edit - this is a different model with only 1GB of RAM.

    http://m.gearbest.com/tv-box-mini-pc/pp_366819.html?gclid=CjwKEAjwu8m-BRDM8KTcjdj8qy0SJACdjSZpFlFI-HQYPcelUhVDfUPWYqPo8lKnrrlDESXMI6moGhoC127w_wcB

Shipping from China only so there's the chance of being hit by customs, but a low chance if you get the gearbest deal for $26.

    Apparently it supports Miracast too!

So this came today and I have to say I'm very impressed.
It's extremely fluid and responsive in use, even faster than our Sony Android TV and its very up to date running Kodi 16.1 and some naughty plugins. ;)

Speaking of naughty plugins if you have kids using one of these I recommend uninstalling the Showbox plugin as it is full of porn in the category results.

Glad I spotted this before handing it over to my friend. :o

It has some useful apps also while not being too bloated.

The most surprising thing is the size of the box, it's absolutely tiny, about 3 inches squared!

Yep there's plenty of emulators on the play store, the ones with .emu in the name are the best and are free.

There a c64 .emu emulator, they dont do a speccie one but there are other specie emulators on the play store.

As for boxes the Nexbox a95x I received today is fairly high spec'd for the price and fast.only 2 usb ports though.

    https://banggood.app.link/FdmBhGpjxw

For a controller you might be better off buying a Bluetooth one specifically designed for Android.

Despite previous comment on the last page regarding Kodi I ordered a Mi Box today from Wallmart (have a friend in the States who I can get delivered to and then can get it to me). Cost 72 dollars including p&p. Due to ship to him on 3 November - so I should get it maybe two weeks after that. I like to play with new things. I hope it works good with IPTV and after previous comments showbox is going on it too :)

    what about the mxq box?

The Nexbox i linked to has AV out in the form of a 3.5mm socket, but it doesnt come with the cable.
Same goes for the MXQ as far as I can see.

The MXQ Pro only has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage also.

Youd really want to be getting 2GB of RAM and 16GB of Storage at this stage.

Try and get one with the Amlogic S905 chip.

Epic bad value - Geekbuying from their Spain warehouse €65.50 (or €51.45 from China ex. duty & handling fee + 3 weeks).

Yeah seems decent spec wise, same chip as the Nexbox i linked to.

    Gearbest sell it for €56.87

    http://www.gearbest.com/tv-box-mini-pc/pp_346979.html

Only thing is that its the older version of android. Not sure if you can update it to Android 6.

Your Nex is better - Marshmallow and the revision S905X offering VP9 and HDR capability ... and €40 (ex. duties, handling fee & 3 weeks wait).

Ah so thats what the X is for! I noticed a HDR mode in display settings alright.

I wish it was my box, my friend is delighted with it.

Almost want one now myself despite having an android tv!

i always recommend newbies to mess around with kodi on whatever devices they currently have before purchasing. it sounds like kodi runs better on windows or other alternatives to android. you could of course hook your pc up to your tv and go from there, but devices like android boxes have other advantages as well.
