Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Science question!

Interested in studying science next year if I get my points hopefully, would love to specialise in something like Genetics/Neuroscience/Microbiology (Definitely biology based!) and I know I will need to do Chemistry for these subjects too, I haven't done Chemistry for my LC, just Biology and I'm worried I'm going to find it really difficult next year. Has anyone got any experience on this? I like studying and stuff but I'm scared a lot of people will be way ahead having done Chem for leaving cert.
    Thanks!

The science courses are all ab initio.

The courses you're looking at aren't really chemistry based but you will have to do biology, chemistry, physics and maths in first year. As far as I know, everyone in science (except direct entry physics) go through the same first year. There will be students there who won't have done up to two of biology, chemistry or physics. That's why they start from basics for all three subjects.

Any chemistry you do after first year will only require knowledge from your previous modules.

Just put the work in during first year and you'll be fine.

+1 to that, I had no knowledge of Physics or Biology and did grand (Physics was a nightmare but a lot of that was me just despising it lol)

I like the idea of Physics but I've looked at some LC notes on it and it just goes right over my head..Hopefully that'll change when I'm actually being taught it!
