Weekend in Limerick

    Hey guys,

I am from Limerick myself but living in Dublin. A few of my friends are coming to Limerick to stay in my family home next weekend.

I never really do the touristy things when I am in Limerick, so I am looking for some recommendations.

I was going to bring them to King John's Castle, St Marys Cathedral, maybe UL, The Milk Market, etc.

One of my friends will be driving, so getting to areas outside the city is no issue.

Because they are here only for two days, we would prefer to just stay in Limerick.

So, any recommendations would be highly appreciated. :)

    Thanks!

You've pretty much all the main things covered. I would have suggested Adare but after last weeks fire I don't know how nice it would be. I would suggest if the weather is nice to stop in Killaloe either on the way down or way back. Take the Birdhill exit and its about a 20min detour.

    Also check out http://www.limerick.ie/custom-search-page1?field_event_pub_start_date_value%5Bvalue%5D%5Bdate%5D=2015-06-20&field_event_pub_end_date_value%5Bvalue%5D%5Bdate%5D=2015-06-27&field_new_category_tid=All&title=

Killaloe is a good shout! I have never been to curraghchase. Would anyone recommend it?

I think the Hunt Museum is free on Sundays.

The Webb Ellis Cup (Rugby World Cup) is available to the public outside Thomond Park next Sunday morning.

I love the walks out in Curraghchase, Clare Glens or Cratloe Woods.

Even, if you don't go for a walk the drive up the Meelick side of Gallows Hill and down the Cratloe side is worth the view. Stop at the radar (golfball) and walk behind it to get a view over the city.

Outside of the city, a trip to Bunratty & Caggaunowen are also worth a trip.

I know, but one of the best features of Adare is the thatched cottages. (and Traffic :D)

Pub crawl using the Coke bikes. I'd love to see a good plan for that.

I'd like to see it after the sixth or seventh pub!

Was there yesterday. Had been there a couple of months ago and it was a very nice but long walk but yesterday, the loop back from the bridge in cratloe back to the car park in o'briensbridge on the grassy hill was absolutely covered in sheep sh*t and the sheep themselves and the grass had grown wild. Wasn't the best to cycle through!

And the place has never been busier. Strangely enough the remains of the two cottages are attracting a feck load of tourists
