Horizon was the only thing I hadn't seen before that got me excited but even then Guerllia Games have still to prove they can create a game that's not as dull as it is good looking.

Dinosaurs seem to be the new zombies these days.

Jesus who took the jam out of your doughnut, FF7 is like my 4 th favourite FF but even I am hyped for it

It's not my favourite FF at all but the problem is Nomura is absolute poison on any project he has been director of.

How though? What do they offer on ps4 that you cant get on pc or xbone? Surely thats what your rate the press conference on. Showing Cod or assassins creed or FF7 or whatever is pointless. That stuff is ending up everywhere.

Uncharted looked amazing as you would expect from Naughty dog. And I liked that Horizon turok type game looked cool. Ill be getting them.

But lets not go nuts here. They didnt show anything ground breaking. Where are the tons of exclusive? There werent many.

Did I say it was ground-breaking? No, I said it was a million times better than Microsoft's, which was pretty terrible IMO. And I stand by that. Hate when people twist my words. I also never said a word about exclusives, I'm saying Sony showed far better games in their conference, exclusive or not. That's the core of these presentations, at the end of the day, and is the swaying factor for many in deciding which console to buy.

I'd no expectations going in and I thought it was just grand. Some things I like that I'm interested in.

That said, although I missed the MS one, I flicked around to find out what I missed and there wasn't much at all either.

Two quiet years for both it seems.

To say one was massively better than the other is a ridiculous statement

When they revealed Shenmue I was expecting the guy just to make one big donation when he took out his phone. Kinda cheeky they announced a kickstarter funded game......I haven't a notion of funding it tho.
Very happy to see The Last Guardian and Uncharted 4 looked good but hope its not as corridor directed as its been stated to be more open to different approaches.

I gotta admit the COD reveal after they hyped it up made laugh. That guy... "Best one everrrr. Zombies." It was like a parody.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,505 ✭✭✭✭Xenji

The presentations these days are more about getting people talking by having big reveals than actually showing substance, everything else just seems like padding.

Nintendo seem to be the only company that know how to do them right at the moment, both Sony and Microsoft could do with taking note of them.

    lol

Are you actually a grown man who uses 'lol' as a reply, rather than discussing a point?

I thought the Microsoft conference had more substance to it, mightnt have had the 'omg cant believe they showed us the name of a game we really want' games but it was a very decent conference.

bit cheeky but as I said, I have a feeling once they hit 2 million some deal where sony kicks in a lot of cash will kick in

    I really enjoyed Sony.

The variety of games shown really pleased me.

How long before the final fantasy 7 clip ends up on pornhub is the real question

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,160 ✭✭✭tok9

Actually the other thing that I'm surprised is they didn't do the "And it's out now" announcement.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Nintendo start off their show tomorrow with a new Metroid......

800k now for Shenmue, reckon it will have Bloodstained's record broken by the time I wake up.

It was a weak showing for Sony.

Watch Sony's 2013 E3. They were so spot on it was scary. Major emphasis on exclusives minus all the media features. Games, games and more games.

What we have witnessed today is the complacency of Sony and its still only early days in this gen.

I am embarrassed that they brought out an amazing developer and asked people to fund his Kick Starter. They should have been making an game announcement and proudly saying we helped fund this project.

    No solid release dates either.

Its amazing to see the switch between Xbox & PlayStation.

Its kind of 2013 again except Sony & Microsoft have traded places lol
Eh.. except the reaction to sony's show seems incredibly positive. Personally most of it fell flat for me but not much was expected and they exceeded those expectations in the first 10 minutes alone.

So to compare it to Microsoft's 2013 showing is crazy. But I think you know that.

Not at all. I think its a good comparison. It may not be a popular opinion but when you break it down thats what it is.

TV, few exclusives, COD partnership, a focus on multi-plats. Surely others can at least agree on this

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,417 ✭✭✭FAILSAFE 00

I am still waiting for valid points about how I am so wrong.

So far responses to my opinion are the following.
    Fanboy.
    Your wrong.
    untrue.
    Sillly.

Where's the discussion, where's the counter points

But 2013 was a PR disaster for Microsoft. This seems to have been a PR success for Sony.

In terms of content Sony had very little as was expected, but neither did Microsoft. Both companies will be fairly happy with their showing.

e3 2013, Microsoft announce the eagerly awaited new xbox, to such hate they had to change everything about it. Do you see playstation scrapping all they announced? That's why it was a silly comparison

Think it was a weaker showing than previous years they hadn't much indie love as I was hoping to see Rime, Witness, Rapture or more new titles. Retr0 kind of said it a few weeks ago they have gotten complacent so far in the lead. 2016 is looking better for them with The Last Guardian, Uncharted & hopefully that Horizon game from Guerrilla which looked ok.
Assassins Creed is worrying though after e3 no gameplay demo at either conference for a game badly needing to win back the trust of fans.

meh, tbh i should be a lot more excited after watching a press conference with both the last guardian and ff7 announced, but nothing is coming this year really, ff7 is probably 10 years away if versus was anything to go by.

They dont seem to have much faith in morpheus working out either considering the tiny amount of time they gave it, and one new ip (which really looked cool), yeah big meh from me
