Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

He has missed 54 games through injury for us over the last two and a bit seasons with a few more missed matches to comes it seems. With Arteta, Flamini and Rosicky all likely to go next year, I think its fair to question him if he cant be relied upon. A luxury backup perhaps but I hope his presence doesnt get in the way of us signing players in his position if/when he is injured again. The Diaby role at the club does remain vacant however!

    Cut him loose?

    Cut him loose?

Nah just maybe push him down the pecking order if his fitness doesnt clear up this season. Next summer, move him into the Flamini/Rosicky role and buy better imo. Of course him getting back to full fitness would be the best outcome.

I'm not sure we'll ever get long spells of an injury free Jack, his style of play is far too confrontational for a fella with glass ankles. He brings the ball into contact far too often!

And sometimes he tackles players outrageously too- a little impetuos is our Jack!

    But we'll always have:

"What do you think of ****?"

    And the timeless classic

"My old man, said be a Tottenham fan, I said f"

Worth keeping on the books for that alone!

Wilshere out for only a month or three months depending on if he needs surgery or not

To hell with Thibaut and Chelsea.

Lets hope they drop 3 points and we beat the orcs this weekend.

Begovic is a pretty able deputy. Its about time they lost a key player though. Karma (if I believed in it) for last season.

I agree. I deleted my account after all the abuse the ITK's were getting from Arsenal fans after the window closed... Some of it was dreadful, bordering on life threatening.

I can do without witnessing that sort of stuff thank you.

In fairness, the ITKs have no-one to blame but themselves for spouting rubbish all summer and winding people up. This doesn't excuse the abuse but I'm not sure what else they expect.

Could we get away with theo up front today or will we see giroud start?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,828 ✭✭✭gosplan

I really think it should be Theo start and Giroud come on in second half.

Simply because the other way around has never worked and Giroud is generally a pretty effective sub.

Is giroud an effective sub though? I'm not so sure about that tbh. Imo if he's to be used at all he should be starting. Would be great to see theo starting on the right with giroud up top. The way it should be imo.

Have to disagree. With the first point anyway, I think it's better to start with your strongest hand. Your reasoning, however, is spot on in my opinion.

I just think that if we start with Giroud and haven't scored after 65 mins, we're done.

I take your point though. Sticking with Giroud also makes sense.

    Yeah, there is that. :(

Id stick with Giroud too tbh as Stoke are still physical at the back and Theo would get crowded out imo (Not because I have a bet on Giroud to get a hat-trick :pac: )

    Theo on the right though.

Giroud is gonna score. I can feel it in my bones.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,828 ✭✭✭gosplan

    Theo on the right though.

The one thing I remember about Theo on the right is we'd probe and prove and have a couple of shots. Then the opposition would score with their first shot.

Though this may work out differently with Coq.

Would have to be Theo and Debuchy though.

I can see a convincing home win today.
Anything less than a win would not be acceptable.
We have had 2 poor home performances so today is the chance to put it right.

Coqs probably had more good PL games than Matic

Walcott gets the nod up front.

Arsenal starting XI vs Stoke: Cech; Bellerin, Paulista, Koscielny, Monreal; Coquelin, Cazorla; Ramsey, Özil, Sanchez; Walcott.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,012 ✭✭✭✭Alfred Borden

With that team, I would love us to try 4-3-1-2 today even for just 10-15 minutes

With Ramsey sitting deeper in the 3? He wouldn't do it.

So Mert is dropped? Beginning of the end for the BFG!
