    Hi Folks,

A friend at work is looking to purchase a new pc after his old laptop had a run in with a cup of coffee. I suggested to look into building one himself so he's going to give it a go.

It's been a while since I built mine so I'll defer to your greater knowledge on the best build.

    Requirements below:
    1. What is your budget? €1500-1800

    2. 2. What will be the main purpose of the computer?
Gaming – Dota 2, The Witcher 3, Bioshock etc. Music Production & Recording on 6 channels via Tascam Interface

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows?
    Yes

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer?
    No

    5. Do you need a monitor?
Yes, 2 if possible, one 1080p, one 1440p if it can fit in budget

5a. If yes, what size do you need.
    22”-24”

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future?
    N/A

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals?
    Keyboard, Mouse (5-button)

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [Yes/No]
    No

    8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser]
    Credit Card, Laser

    9. When are you purchasing? [In x days]
    ASAP

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? [South Dublin City/Cork City/Kerry/etc.]
    Longford

    Cheers folks!

    2tb HDD

    Motherboard

    Xeon

    16gb RAM

    PSU

    Graphics Card

    SSD 1

    SSD 2

    1440p Monitor

    1080p Monitor

    Windows

1,560 delivered. Mightn't need 16gb RAM. 1 SSD is for OS, second is for games or programs he has to access often. I'm not a great man for monitors so hopefully they're grand. Any Q's ask away

Cheers for that looks good! Quick one, he could probably use a case that would be portable enough, would the 970 have any issue fitting in this case.

I forgot a case, **** :pac: Yeah that BitFenix is fine. Just make sure he picks the mATX case and not the mITX, they look identical. That one there is the right one. He'll also need a new motherboard, scrap the one above, this is the right size

Hey folks, all the components finally arrived after a lengthy delay from Hardwareversand.

Build going well until I ran into the following snag!

The 24 pin motherboard connector will not seat fully into the motherboard.

We tried for about 30 mins to get it in using a good bit of force but no luck. I know it usually shouldn't take alot to get it seated

    Any thoughts?

I plan to take all out of the case today and try get it fitted outside the case, hopefully a bit more room will allow us to get it forced in.

Just to add, we are using this PSU and this M/B.

Jam it in Iggy. It helps if you rock it carefully back and forth.

    That's what she said! :D

Got it sorted! Bit of force did it once it was out of the case. Cheers!
