“IDA is supportive of the move to a technological university, a benefit to the region, and we are supportive and aware of the difficulties and backgrounds".

“We have done a deep dive analysis, Kilkenny is extremely attractive, have had companies in, struck by, I suppose Kilkenny oozes charm, it’s cosmopolitan".

The new IDA South Eastern Regional Manager.

    fixed your post! ;)

Of course when she is interviewed for the Munster/News and Star she'll be bigging up Waterford through gritted teeth.

her comments look decent and fair comments to me but of course, just because every thing the new regional mgr does doesnt involve Waterford, some have to highlight that. I thought we were past this petty nonsense, so what if she was saying good things about KK, we have to work as a region and i thought people on here would have the cop-on to see that.
people searching for something to whinge or get some dig in about

The whole Southeast needs to act in a more joined up fashion. Wexford Waterford Carlow Kilkenny all have something different to offer and need to be joined up in a cohesive way with transport and a multi-site educational campus to become a hub to take jobs and investment from Dublin which is again over-heating in terms of available housing, traffic congestion etc. All these add to cost of doing business and living in Dublin and indeed all were part of the mix that propelled the country into the last crash. New business and tourism are all coming in via Dublin. For key decision makers the sound-bite that you could locate less than an 1 hour from Dublin Airport in a cheaper location is a game changed since the M9 opened. For me that gives Kilkenny & Carlow but in particular Kilkenny an advantage that was not there previously. Either way this is good of the region as it is easier to commute Waterford Kilkenny now rather than Waterford Dublin. This builds more economic resilience into the region.
To accelerate the development of the Southeast further it urgently need as additional economic axis between Shannon Limerick Cork Tipperary Waterford and Wexford by upgrading the East - West connectivity across the South of the country by upgrading the N24 to Motorway. This would be a massive enabler for business and tourism. All this depends on stronger regional political thinking and action rather than the IDA who can only market what they have.

Great points. But the animosity towards Waterford by our "neighbours" will always prevent this. The actions of Hogan and Howlin are prime examples of this.
