Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Surely we need a bit more from higher up the order too? Can't be leaving it up to the tail end to chase down a high run rate that's been let slip in the earlier stages. Afghan bowling has too much strength and variety for us I guess.

It seemed like both teams struggled yesterday to get going on a tough wicket, the match was won in the field with more urgency from the Afghans easily saving 10-15 runs and ourselves sloppily giving away 10-15 runs. John Mooney (Afghan fielding coach) working wonders against us.

Wow we might actually be in with a chance today. What will we do when Murtagh retires?

Don't worry, we'll find a new way of letting them get 200+

    151/8 after 45 overs

10 off the 45th over and Zadran now on 35 from 45.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,579 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Zadran hits a six then out next ball. 160/9

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,579 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

KOB's last two overs gone for 21 runs, but did pick up the Zadran wicket.

164/9 with 3 overs left. Would be nice to wrap up the innings quickly now

175/9 going into last over and its KOB....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,579 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

7 off the last over. 182/9

    183 the target then

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 924 ✭✭✭lambayire

    182-9

We are as bad as England as putting away the tail-enders.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,732 ✭✭✭BarryD2

Decent enough score from Afg in the circumstances. Hopefully we can knock it off, but also quite capable of foostering around and letting the run rate pressure build. Needs a good steady scoring stand or two from our higher order..........

    Wilson out 162/6.

    21 needed still.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 924 ✭✭✭lambayire

    162-6.

Wilson gone to an awful shot.

    Game far from over yet!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,732 ✭✭✭BarryD2

Should be manageable from here! But we don't make things easy - 20 off 60 odd balls, down to 4 wickets.. could screw it up yet.

Terrible decision from the ump there.
    Big inside edge.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,579 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Fine inninngs from Singh this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 924 ✭✭✭lambayire

That's a tight stumping appeal on Murtagh.

I'd have been leaning towards out.

    Not out given

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,579 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Fell over the line in the end but a win it is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 924 ✭✭✭lambayire

    A win for Ireland!!

A good show from Extras for us today.

Decent win in the end and a timely performance from Singh there, justifies his place for another while

What about our opening bat & captain? Time he scored he few against decent opposition. Misfires too often methinks! Put up 78 & 45 against a Bangladesh team recently but most matches I've followed in recent years, he seems more likely to fall.

Well he seems to be beyond question for years now, if he hasn't lost the captaincy by now he never will till he retires!

The newer guys like Simi seem to be the only ones who have to fight for their place (and rightly so of course, only everyone should have to)
