Missing my numbers BIAB

    Made a Maple Wheat Ale.

    The expected OG was 1.082.
    It came out as 1.06
    I mashed for 90 mins between 65 and 69 degrees celcius.
    Made sure to stir the grain so there was no dough balls several times.

    Is there any way to increase the effeciency.

    The recipe was as follows.



    Pale Ale Malt 3.6kg
    Wheat Malt 3.4kg

    Hallertau Mittlefruh 22g 60min boil
    Maple Syrup 220g 60 min boil

    Hallertau Mittlefruh 14g 15mins

    Safbrew WB – 06 yeast.

    Mashed in 26 litres of water at 65degrees celcius for 90mins.
    Boiled for 60 mins
    19 litres made it into the fermenter.

    Any help would be appreciated. :)

    It's pretty hard to get anything over 1070 with BIAB brewing. You could try batch sparge in the bag, see if you get any more points and a 90min boil.

    Are you crushing your own grains?
    A finer crush will help bring up your OG.
    Biab is a brilliant way to make all grain beer when you have limited space in your home but poorer efficiency is the pay off.

    No harm picking a beer style that requires other sugars Belgian ales some black IPAs
    Add sugar to get a dry finish you won't notice the drop off in gravity as much

    You can buy RO water from good pet shops. I get mine at Seahorse Aquariums.

    Did an All Grain today.
    Made sure my Homebrew Shop did an extra fine grind.
    Looks like that was the problem cause I hit my OG on the dot.
    Happy days :)
