I have been visiting the forum for a while and thought I would pick the brains of the gurus on what I should be looking at.

    1. What is your budget? €1000-1300
    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming with some server practise on VMs
2a. Games most likely played: RPG, Strategy, Graphic Adventure.
    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No
    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No
    5. Do you need a monitor? Yes
5a. If yes, what size do you need. 24 inch
5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? It would be nice to be able to output to a 4k monitor at a future date.
    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? No
    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Yes
    8. How can you pay? Credit Card
    9. When are you purchasing? In the next few months
    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Limerick
    11. Approx size of PC case to fit shelf. 15"H×15"D
    12. Additional info: As quiet as possible, current unit sounds like a jet is revving up for take off when running.

    i5 4690k €250
    GTX 970 €350
    Nanoxia DS3 €70
    16gb RAM €100
    2tb HDD €80
    120gb SSD €65
    250gb SSD €85
    H97 board €80
    500w PSU €60

1120 roughly, case might be too big though. If you're willing to wait you could fit AMD fury or 300 series card. Released next week.

16GB is a complete waste for games IMO.

One, good 250GB SSD is enough imo.

He wants to run VMs too

One for OS one for games since the budget allows is how I picked the SSDs

I think the parts picked matched the list but let me know what you think.
I also need a monitor, any suggestions?

Get the MSI 970, and run the parts through geizhals.de to knock a bit off.

Get a HDD, 250gb won't last pissing time

Don't think you need 2400 RAM either.

Crucial BallistiX Sport 16gb should be €97

The only GTX970 card I can find is the Innovision. The others are GTX960's it might be the size of the case.

Dunno what thats about. Don't use the configurator anyways, I assume you're doing a self build?

I figured I'd try to put it together myself.
I was using the configurator to make sure I didn't pick incompatible parts.

My first list is all compatible. You can add any CD drive no worries, or the case you want

    3 quick ones.
    1) Wifi seems to be pretty hard to find on a motherboard unless you go very high end.

Without spending a lot on a board do I just resort to using a seperate reciever?

    2) The german site offers what looks like a collect and return warranty. Does anyone know if this applies all the way over here?
5 years of cover for a reasonable amount sounds good for a first time builder.

    3) Is the install job they do any good or am I better doing the assembly myself?

Get a pair or homeplugs or a WiFi adapted for like €15

Haven't a clue about the warranty

Building PCs is an experience the first time, you learn a lot and it leaves upgrades less daunting too.
