The milk choc 'butter biscuits' are lovely....They're 75cent :)

The box is blue (not purple).

Also, in my humble opinion, the aldi salted peanuts are nicer than KP.... possible controversial opinion :pac:

The Clancy's salted nut mix is the nicest on the market anyhow, IMO

I would say they are as good as if not better than the KP ones. Addictive.

I had a big sharing pack of KP ones recently and they were ****e!

Aldi ones, while I haven't tried them recently, couldn't be much worse!

Those chicken thigh fillets are great for curries and the like. I hate deboning thighs so its handy to have them filleted. One thing though- in Aldi they are 3.99 for 400g whereas the same thing in Lidl is 3.25 for 425g. Was shaking my head when I copped that last week, yet more evidence of Aldi price creep.

€2.99 paid for them in local aldi this week.

Yeah I was thinking I bought them last week for €2.99.

Anyone know how much the Sorrento Sourdough Pizza Bases are? In Supervalue they are €3.99.

Anyway myself and my wife had them today for a handy lunch. I had a half packet of Aldi grated Mozzarella in the freezer, added some grated white cheddar to pad it out, a bag of the cheapo fresh Mozzarella, some of the Italian Herbs Passatta, a few leaves from an Aldi basil plant I've baby sat the past while and we had decent enough pizzas.

    Pretty good bases in fairness.

First they came for the socialists...

I have picked these pizza bases up on my last two trips to Aldi, they are really good and I think they are only €2.99.

Yes - €2.99 and pretty good especially if you have a big enough frying pan to get the base crispy then finish under the grill. My oven has a setting where you can have the oven and grill on together so I use that.

Edit - just had an idea. Next time I'm going to grill one side until it's crispy then take it out and flip it over, top it and back in. ;)

Do you use the middle part of the oven to do this?

are you sure it was the deboned thigh fillets? I definitely paid 3.99 for them a few weeks ago, remember looking at the receipt after checkout. The bone in version is 2.99, sold as chicken oyster thighs with the pack being 910 grams

yeah I got them for 3.99 last week in Supervalue and found them great. My Aldi hasnt had pizza bases in several weeks now, I think they are normally by the Super 6 meats but havent seen them there is a good while now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,672 ✭✭✭Feisar

I done them on a pizza stone in the middle of the oven, the base and toppings finished cooking at the same time.

Not quite the middle - a bit higher up than that.

    Another not recommended here.

Bought the skinless sausages mid week last week, and they're not great tbh. Weird texture to them (probably with no skin to bite through) and pretty bland tbh.

Pizza bases are with the butter etc

yeah I asked a staff member and he said they havent gotten them in that store for several weeks now. He said (partly laughing) they can be with the Super 6 meats and also over at the butter but never beside the fresh pizzas below the ready meals! I normally make my own dough but I dont have any 00 flour at the moment so am just using shop bought bases till I can get some.

Just FYI, while tipo 00 is great for pizza bases, you can still make decent dough with strong white flour, or even plain.

I make my own pizza bases with strong flour and a packet of yeast. It takes a bit of time but good fun (or work!) with the kids.

The pizza bases in the butter aisle were nice but they had a couple of issues.
They were very crumbly and were often broken on the shelf.
They went off very quickly, growing mould before the expiry date so I had to freeze them.

Wraps are great for pizzas too.

Sweet Chilli Prawn Crackers in the special aisle. Delicious! I was saving them for family games night tonight but they’ve all gone!

The Sour Cream and Onion Lentil Crisps are absolutely lovely.

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,382 ✭✭✭✭rubadub

The frozen roosters salt & chilli shredded & breaded chicken was fairly good. Most takeaways overcook the chicken.

You could have go making your own spicebags with it.

Well this advice turned out to be wrong as I was in Aldi yesterday and the pizza bases were there beside the fresh pizzas below the ready meals. They are a pack of 2 sourdough bases and the brand is Sorrento which is the exact same as what my local Supervalue sells except they are 3.99 there whereas in Aldi they are 2.99.

Brought two new Vitamin Water drinks by The Juice Company in Aldi today.

One was Apple & Elderflower flavour.

The drinks were exact copies of Vit Hit

Would these be in the fridges somewhere or on a shelf?
