Ill stop going on about them now but my God the Sesame Seed Brioche Buns make such a good burger, how does a bun make such a difference?

I had one left over yesterday and made a breakfast bap out of sausage and bacon and an egg and jalapeno relish aswell with some hash browns, one of the nicest breakfasts Ive ever cooked!

Shall be having some shortly now with some homemade turkey burgers so I hope you are right ;)

No nut traces so the wife and little one can have them but sadly milk so the little lad can't!

I swear I have an in depth knowledge of Aldi products ingredients from all the checking I have to do when shopping!

Thargor give Tescos Finest Potato rolls a try sometime for a burger, they're almost identical to what Bunsen use and have a great savoury flavour to them.

Must say Im a bit disappointed at Aldis new Grow range promotion. They dedicated 8 pages of their leaflet to it with bios of the Irish producers and about 35-40 new products featured. But the shelves in my local barely have 15 products available. Was really looking forward to trying the new falafel burgers but Ive been in twice now since the promotion began last Sunday and they're a no show.

Got these sausages there the other day, really nice as a hot dog.

Got the Beef Sausages (Blackcastle?) last weekend (think they were part of the Grow with Aldi thing). They were lovely. Different taste to pork sausages but great in a bun from the BBQ. Seemed to be sold out this weekend.

The beef sausages with mash and a nice rich onion gravy.

Oh does anyone know if the beef sausages are in any of the Limerick stores? My partner loves beef sausages and we haven't been able to find them since Tesco stopped them.

The crumbled ham is the nicest of any of the supermarkets

the microwave coconut, chilli and lemongrass rice is fantastic - had to debate hard with myself whether to post this or not, I am worried they will keep selling out.

Ha! I got a pack and am waiting to try it out!

The Melt Down hot sauce is very good. Not too hot or sharp, thick and fruity. More of a sauce sauce.

I was in my local one earlier (Newlands Cross, Dublin) and they don't have the falafel burgers either, just fresh falafel. It's the same there re. the limited number of those products, happened last year too from recollection (can't remember what the promotion was called but it was basically the same thing) - there were a few things mentioned in the magazine that I wanted to try but none were ever stocked that I could see.

Some of them are overpriced as **** anyway...

Kefir in particular. Put it in as fancy bottle as you want with the nomadic brand, but 1.50 or 2 euro for a glass of kefir is a joke.

    Nice margin there, but seriously.

Tried the Saturday pizzas they have in the frozen section. Best frozen pizza I've ever had

Never seen 'saturday pizza's" are they new?

I like their Sorrento pizza bases, spoon over some homemade pizza sauce and sprinkle on mixed grated mozzarella/cheddar cheese stick it in the top shelf of a preheated oven on full whack for 8 mins or so and it's as good as the local pizza joint imo.

It's part of the grow Aldi thing. Saturday is in the pizza place in ballymaloe. The pizzas are flash frozen

Must give them a try the next time I'm in Aldi, any idea of pricing?

I think it was a fiver maybe a little less. On the high side for a frozen pizza but you can pay 3 for a muck goodfellas

yeah its a bit frustrating for them to be 'launching' 40 odd new products or so yet there is only about 15 in store. A bit sh1t for the producers too. they probably think their product is going to get good exposure but if people cant even buy it then whats the point.

Well, thats possibly a bit unfair - as I understand it only the best performing products will get kept so perhaps the reason for the limited stock is from the producers? Like if youre one of the 40 odd, and you don't know if Aldi are going to keep you on long term, you're hardly going to want to invest massivly to ramp up production until you have that longer term certainty.

Also, Aldi would need to give much more shelf space to the project if they had mass amounts of each product.

Anyway, maybe it depends on the Aldi you go to. I've heard there are tiers in terms of their best performing stores and they often get more resources than others. I've seen plenty of the items in my local one (I think I went on the Monday immeadiately after the launch tho, so they may well be sold out of certain items now).

Tried the margarita version last Sunday, agree with Rob - best frozen pizza I’ve had. Not cheap but really tasty.

Now they just need a good quality tub of fresh garlic & herb dip to go along with it.

Damn, I saw this message too late, bought two yesterday for, well, Saturday, but didn’t know they were part of Ballymaloe, I don’t support them. Ah well I’ll eat them but won’t buy again.

    I'll take the bait.

What's to "support" or not support about a food brand? They're not a football club are they?

I would echo the Saturday pizza being best frozen pizza I've ever had, just wish I got more than one. They said on their facebook they only did 5000 for the grow with Aldi event so I expect we won't see them again. It's actually got me thinking I might try making my own pizza, the difference in quality between the Saturday pizza and the usual frozen pizzas Aldi offer is a revelation!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,780 ✭✭✭JohnK

I've seen those Saturday pizza's in SuperValu as well over the last few weeks so they're not limited to Aldi

Because its Darina Allens family business and her husband has had issues with child porn and she stood by him. He stood back from the business but obviously they're still married so he presumably profits from it. He also got off very lightly in court.

If a family member commits a heinous act why should the entire family suffer? Especially if that family is an important purveyor of culture in a region?

    Don't bother.
These objectors have their minds made up. Nothing you or anyone else says will sway them.
    There are many like that.

    That's an article from 2003.

My searching skills are poor, so I couldn't find a rebuttal, but there again, I saw no supporting articles.

A rebuttal? He entered a guilty plea in court and had enough money to buy his way out of a prison sentence with a donation to a charity.

There are forums elsewhere on Boards for legal and moral discussions but this isn't one of them. Please stay on topic.
