Had it a few times at ship brokers diners... which was in Holland but i thought, it being shipping related, it was international.

Massive jars of piccalilli are in store now, presumably in the run up to Christmas, and its delicious.

Hope it hasn't replaced the normal tomato, red pepper and jalapeño relishes which seem to have disappeared ! Very unhappy, really hate that about aldi, they discontinued a balsamic vinegar in a square bottle years ago and I still haven't forgiven them

Not in my Local Aldi. There was tonnes of it.

Anyone try the much talked about new gin?

It's that time of year again when I need to start buying bottles of drink again for customers, as Christians presents.

Anyone requesting gin, may just get a bottle of this apparently decent liquor.

Not available in all stores as far as I can tell, and not in my local one here in Bray. Hopefully they might have some in Greystones.

UPDATE: The Greystones Aldi had the price sign up, but no actual bottles :(

It's nice, although the regular Aldi gin which is around EUR15 is also perfectly fine.

Try it with some decent bread/rolls a good slice of cheddar and some of Aldis torchon ham.

I got a jar of Ploughman's Chutney earlier. It was quite nice with some cheese and cold meats.

Sweet potato fries are excellent. They could do with a bigger bag though......

I tried their Ham and pineapple pizza from the chilled food cabinet (2 euro, light blue box) and I was very impressed with it, especially the base which was just like a fresh pizzeria one - fully cooked.but still soft. I find a lot of cook at home pizzas end up with either a hard biscuity base, or a soggy one. Very good value at that price :)

Anyone try the mince pie icecream?

The German meat balls they stock are Savage, 81% pork. I'd describe them as a sausage made with sage and onion stuffing, throw them in the oven for 20 minutes, mashed potato on the side, perfect winter fodder.

Slice them up and put them on pizza - fantastic! :)

Interesting, I always dismissed that German stuff as dogfood since the day Aldi opened, will give them a try :D

They're 2 and a half years out of date, I'd leave them to be honest

I used eat those regularly enough until one day about 6 months ago I just started retching...no idea why, but that was the end of them for me
