Hows it going lads as some of you know I recently moved to Germany to start my new life here as an apprentice to a master Gunmaker/Gunsmith. It took a couple of years to find this job and I am feeling rather lucky to have gotten it as it is completely unheard of to have a foreigner as an apprentice for this particular trade I believe there is only in the region of 15 people trained a year.
Anyway i thought i would throw up a couple of pics as thought some of you might be interested. I haven't taken many as alot of the Firearms are custom and i don't want to be stepping on anyone's toes.
Some of the work i have to do may seem rather simple such as in the first pics, I have to file a cube 50mmx50mm by hand which is completely square the whole way around and no light may pass the precision square it is pretty challenging lol. The last apprentice took two years to complete his i have managed half of it in a week so im pretty pleased with myself about that. I have moved onto more complicated tasks at the moment refinishing firearms etc.. i am not really meant to be doing alot of what i am at this stage but they say i am up to it, im not so sure some of the time lol. The pics i have now of the Firearm i have started refinishing this week are of an old J.p Sauer M30 Drilling the same as issued to the Luftwaffe during WWII as their African survival rifle.

    This is my Werkstatt

Well done for getting the job Juice. It's great to see a lad with such a passion for his work . You obviously have a natural talent for it and I'm sure that if you continue in the same way that you have started , you will make a first class gunsmith. Onwards and upwards...
