    Hi,

I am moving to cork end of June to work for apple. I currently live in London and this would be my first time in Cork. The company told me that the 202 bus route will take me to the apple headquarters from City centre. I would like to live somewhere close to City centre where I have access to everything and also close to the bus stop for the bus 202. Which area would you recommend? Does anyone know any websites where I can find houses or flats for sharing or even like a studio apartment.

Thank you in advance :) hope to get some helpful tips.

    Thank you

    Pearl_3 :)

    daft.ie for looking for accommodation.

There's relatively few studio apartments in Cork, and they tend to be of poor quality and high rental cost. Sharing is a better bet. Good areas close to the city centre and on the 202 route would be on the Blackrock road such as Ballintemple, and Blackrock itself. There are also some rental options in the city centre itself, and areas like the Shandon area may also be an option. Most of what is available will be on daft.

Cork is tiny in comparison to London, so you may be comfortable looking further afield.

It's a very compact city with loads of supermarkets. It's difficult to find accommodation in Cork right now though unless you're willing to pay quite a lot.

I'd recommend staying at pope's quay in the city centre. If you look in daft there are a couple of places. Absolutely city centre so 5 minutes from 3 supermarkets, walking distance from any pubs/clubs at night, well lit with a lot of activity for safety at night, easy access to bus route to Apple in hollyhill.

The North Side but right in the middle of the city nearly.

Good places to live if you are working in Apple would be: anywhere in the city centre, North Mall, Shandon area (some people say it's rough, but lived there in I'm still alive!), Cathedral Road, Blarney Street, Sundays Well, Mc Curtain Street, Turners Cross. The 202 goes out to Blackrock, so that may also be an option! Not exactly in the city centre though.

Best place to look for accommodation would be daft.ie, and also may be worth looking at the Apple Cork Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/applecorkireland/?fref=ts Houses/flats in Cork do tend to go very quickly, so you need to be fast!

Here are some examples of house shares:

http://www.daft.ie/sharing/dominick-street-cork-city-centre-cork/828094/ That is right next to a 202 bus stop, and and a 3 minute walk from the city.

http://www.daft.ie/sharing/upper-john-street-cork-city-centre-cork/827716/ This is literally across the road from a 202 bus stop, and a also a 3 minute walk into the city.

http://www.daft.ie/sharing/seanamhuileann-ladyswell-near-heineken-brewery-cork-city-centre-cork/827649/ This is a bit further from a city, but still very close. A few minutes walk from the same 202 bus stop mentioned above. Nice apartments, and many Apple staff live there! They also come up on Daft a lot so keep a look out.

http://www.daft.ie/sharing/chapel-field-cathedral-road-cork-city-centre-cork/827550/ Also on 202 bus route, closer to Apple than the others and still near the city. Some people find that area a bit rough, but it depends really!

Studio apartments tend to be fairly bad in Cork. But here are some that are available! :

http://www.daft.ie/lettings/16-hardwick-st-patricks-hill-cork-city-centre-cork/1525901/ Near the city and a few minutes walk to the bus route

http://www.daft.ie/lettings/1-little-william-street-off-mccurtain-street-cork-city-centre-cork/1563824/ Same as above really, only down the road!
