Nobody, didn't see your comment clarifying your post. Apologies.

hehe ... not complaining I was just curious to think someone was actually think the booing was for Djokovic .. I know I say mad stuff, but even thats a bit far fetched for me, and anyway the BBC lads said it immediately as they were booing ...crowd not happy to see official speak to the umpire

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,014 ✭✭✭ballyargus

It was as clear as crystal that the booing was for the umpire calling play to an end. A lot of those punters wouldn't have had tickets for the following day and would have to watch the match on the Roger like the rest of us peasants.

To suggest that they were booing Djokovic is nothing short of ridiculous.

"Who is suggesting this ?" (the_monkey 11:23 today)

Ive really opened a can of worms here.

YEsterday it seemed people thought I was complaining about the booing of Djokovic - I wasn't , I was moaning about the crowds bias toward Kevin Anderson.

Just bad timing of my post ...

    Thats it .

Now ... Serena today - can she please be beaten ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,014 ✭✭✭ballyargus

    Perhaps I had misread!

On another note I do think that the overnight break could do Anderson the world of good.

With a rested serving arm he could push Djokovic hard this afternoon. He was dying a death out there last night and looked shattered.

With a night's rest and a kitchen sink effort I think he could cause some problems out there today.

Kevin might be worth a few bob today. The rest will do him the WORLD of good. If he turns up like he did for the first 2 sets yesterday then he will cause consternation.

Anything less, and I am expecting Djokovic to take the 5th 6/2

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,014 ✭✭✭ballyargus

I stuck him in a fourfold with Serena, Maria and Radwankska for the laugh. 12/1 overall.

Anderson won his two sets on tiebreakers. He won't be winning the fifth on one of those so I don't see getting past Djokovic today.
Anyone seen much of Cilic? He might have a better chance in the quarters, though unless he's at USO14 standard I'd doubt it.

The general consensus among my friends was that if Anderson was to win he needed to win last night. Once it went to the 4th set, it was clear the Novak was not letting that one slip by him. I think the rest will do Anderson good, its a one set shoot out and I always back the player with the better serve. All Anderson has to do is not make a stupid mistake on his own service game and he will run Novak close. I obviously think Novak will win because he is the better player but if they played the 5th set last night, Anderson would be packing up his stuff today imo. I definitely don't think this is a foregone conclusion as some are saying (albeit not on this thread).

He did break Novak once though. He could do it again

The break definetely favours Anderson, Djokovic had the momentum ... so he would have wanted to continue ..

But as mentioned, big servers like tbs, and there wont be a tb today ... lets see ...

question about Boards - is the search funcionality arsed ? I can't search for my own posts ..

I don't think anyone has momentum after a break of a whole day.

Either way, I can't see Djokovic losing here.

Djokovic had the momentum last night I mean after leveling.

Listening to the crowd alone I can tell who wins the point ..

Interesting that Murray didn't really have any of these difficulties against Anderson at Queens just a couple of weeks ago. And that court tends to be faster than Wimbledon, thus you would think it would favour the bigger server even more.
Leads me to believe Murray would beat Djokovic should they meet in the final. Anderson is playing well but Djoko's form doesn't seem terribly high right now.

Some players are just tailor made for their opponents, Anderson is a mug against Murray, but someone like Berdych always hassles Murray while he gets slaughtered by Novak.

Ah, you cannot compare in sport like that. Novak got his tactics horribley wrong for this match. If he makes it through this match I would still back him to win the tournament, could be the kick in the backside he needs.

Anderson looks a lot more composed. Still backing Novak, however if I didn't know who he was I wouldnt be based on what I've seen so far.

Yeah, you're right about matchups but I'm more talking about Djokovic's performance today versus Murray's against Anderson and indeed against Karlovic. Murray showed patience, excellent returning and more or less always seemed in control. Djokovic looks irritable, is hitting a great deal of unforced errors and is struggling badly to match someone that is being aggressive. Add that to the fact that Murray ran him close at RG on clay and I think Murray will beat him here on grass.

Crowd wont cheer for Anderson if he faces Murray !!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

Anderson bottled that game big time. Pity as he was looking likely to win up until then, Nole dug deep though.

    Why on earth would they?

Would you expect Aussies to cheer for him against Kryigos or Tomic? The French to cheer for him against Gasquet?

The crowd have been behind Anderson because he is the underdog and they always get behind the underdog as does pretty much every other tennis crowd ever. Novak got a good reaction for breaking Anderson just their.

CoCo is taking issue with Sharapova moving while waiting to return serve. Umpire doesn't seem interested so CoCo is threatening to take it into her own hands. I would love to see her try to tell Sharapova off.

She should tell her to STFU with the porn star impressions too.

Anderson played unreal today, far better than against murray, and better than what I saw Karlovic play yesterday (but i didnt see much of it) 40 aces and 71 winners? I'm sure he is stunned that he didn't win with those kind of stats...

I've noticed this with Djokovic in the past against big servers though. He counts on reading a serve early, and does it brilliantly against most opponents. If he doesn't feel he is making inroads he can get crabby.

He was poor enough in htis match, but he won't face that kind of power if he plays murray (cilic and stan on the other hand.....)
