Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dublin - #1 Bicycle-friendly English-speaking city in world

The Copenhagenize index of bicycle-friendly cities ranked 122 cities for the 2015 index, and Dublin was the #1 English-speaking city on the list.

Indeed, it was the only English-speaking in the Top 20 (unless one counts French-speaking Montreal in Quebec, in which 56% of residents can speak both English and French).

    Good for us, I suppose.

There's six in the top ten a bogger from Donegal could have a more intelligible conversation with than a howya from Dolphin's Barn.

not good when theres a bus of 50 working people stuck on the quays behind some rubber arsed fantasist indulging his sport on the roads and going at 5 mph at a quarter to nine.

Fantastic! Another cycling thread in AH. Don't see this turning into a cyclist bashing thread at all!

Good effort, should get a few people taking the bait soon enough.

    8/10 for trolling.

Although Irish roads are considerably safer than we make out, that index is a load of nonsense for obvious reasons.

    Good luck, have fun AH.

Minneapolis is also in the top 20. But let's face it, the list is completely meaningless because of the relatively small number of Belgian, Dutch and Danish cities in the top 20 that are obviously more cyclist-friendly than Dublin. In addition, some of their 13 categories are woolly and/or clearly poorly researched.

Have a look outside the bus window while traveling on the quays, you'll see yourself being passed by bicycles.

We'll I always keep my cyclist bashing stick close to hand, particularly when driving in foothills on the Dublin mountains of a Sunday morning.
