College swimming pool to be closed permanently!

    MU have sent letters out the parents whose kids attend the swimming classes in the college pool advising that it is going to close.

    They only informed people in the last couple of weeks, when the students were all gone home for the summer. So a lot of students dont appear to be aware of the fact! (The pool is closing for everyone, not just public sessions and local kids)

    There was a public meeting held lastnight in McMahons and it appears as though no one has any real idea why its closing.

    The Summer open day is on this weekend (Sat 27th). It would be interesting to know whether the pool will be mentioned at any stage!

    The patrons and staff have set up a facebook page asking for support and to spread the word!

    There was an email sent round a little while ago, though obviously a lot of students wouldn't be checking college email over the summer.

    Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    That was a concern rasied by clubs and socs last night. That students wouldnt be checking their college mail often/at all, over the summer.

    Any chance you could post the link to the facebook page?

    If they close the pool what are all the clubs that rely on it for training supposed to do ?

    Its not like the new pool would be ready in a few months !
