George costigan as Bob in Rita, sue and Bob too. He brought a level of sophistication to the role that not many could, possibly with the exception of Daniel day Lewis.

And like someone said already, James Gandolfini - Tony Soprano.
It's impossible to imagine any of those characters being played by anyone else.

Also, Al Pacino played Shylock excellently in the tv/movie version of The Merchant of Venice. He always gets slack for over acting but it works with Shakespeare.

Also #2 How could I forget, Marlon Brando as Vito "The Godfather" Corleone. Spectacular performance..
