So the missus's laptop is riddled with adware from streaming and i was going to reinstall windows 7 as a fix. although the software is genuine windows we dont have a disc.

so what are the options here? can a reinstall be done? is there other options such as formating or something like that? what do people recommend, thanks in advance.

There is usually a recovery partition on the laptop. You can just do a factory reset. You'll need your Win 7 key of course. Usually on a sticker on bottom of laptop.

If there's no recovery partition, you can use KeyFinder to get the key Windows is installed with and download an ISO of that copy of Windows 7 and burn it to disc/create bootable USB.
