Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    From Facebook:
Coming up on the show this week, Today FM presenter Matt Cooper and his wife, TV3 Midday contributor Aileen Hickie, give their first interview together.
Also joining Miriam this week is journalist, broadcaster and campaigner Una Mullally who will speak about the shock of her cancer diagnosis during the recent marriage referendum.
British journalist John McCarthy and Belfast author Brian Keenan will reflect on their friendship 25 years after their release, having been held as hostages in Beirut in Lebanon during the late 80’s.
And Tony Blair’s infamous spin doctor Alastair Campbell will share memories of his friend former Liberal Democrat Leader Charles Kennedy and discuss Campbell’s new book Winners.
Plus there is music from Irish group Relish of their new single Got It Made. Tune in to RTE One at 9.50pm and enjoy!

...Safe to say that a certain music festival in the south-west of England will make for a much better viewing experience.

But there still has to be a thread for tonight's episode. It's not necessarily a rule - but it is the norm.

    :o:o:o:o:o:D:);)

Why is Matt doing this soft focus crap? I'm thinking he might be moving to RTE.

Matt Cooper was happy to get out of North Korea, probably afraid of saying the wrong thing and getting hard labour at a concentration camp.
At least Aileen wasn't there, taking the mickey...

I much prefer when interviewers keep their home lives private, especially ones who deal with political issues like matt. It helps you think that they are impartial.

This seems like the kind of interview you would expect of RTE staff.

He could do a Darcy in the future and go for a cushy RTE job but he will be presenting the Rugby World Cup for tv3 later this year. They better get the HD feed going

An Alastair Campbell interview. It must be about 5 minutes since he last appeared on an Irish chat show.

That was a really nothing interview with una mulally. Imagine leaving pride going all the way out to donny brook to talk to miriam for 5 minutes. And to be asked and tell nothing we didn't know already.

No disrespect to una, I admire her so much, but I'm unsure why rte chose that interview

Miriam only interviewed Brian Keenan and John McCarthy recently for her radio programme.

I agree with the entirety of your first paragraph.

As for why RTE chose this interview? Quite simple - they felt it was perfect. :o:o  ;)

John McCarthy reminds me a little of Bill Gates.

its a small irk to me but why do RTE presenters always say "Can you remember what it was like"? Why dont they just say "what was it like"
It almost infers that they cannot remember monumental episodes from their lives. Do they assume that all celebrities have Alzheimers

John is 58 and Brian is 64, Brian looks about 15 years older than John.
