Quick ?....have just opened a bottle of 2007 Argentinian Chardonnay,tastes a bit bitter....could a bottle be gone off?.....it was perfectly sealed.

Drinkable but it will be awful. White wine you buy in most supermarkets and off licenses needs to be drunk with in a 2-3 years of the year on the bottle.

I have seen white wine from 2011 in some places that I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

To know for sure if it's gone off or not you first need to put the top of the bottle as deep into your anus as possible.

Once you've done this post back and I'll inform you of step two.

Check the corkscrew isn't out of date first, it's engraved on the neck. You might need a magnifying glass to see it. Never ceases to amaze me how many people never check their wine-openers.

You've to leave it for an hour at least for it to work properly, two hours gives a more accurate reading imo.

I'll pm the certain nuances of it after the first hour but it basically involves running on the road against traffic repeating specific types of satanic chanting.

not a regular drinker, tend to go easy on the drink.

offy was closed (thanks pssheads) so I went in to local boozer and got a couple of bottles .... barman was a bit hesitant to give me them to go.

fvcking things cost about a fiver each. is this normal. offy price is about 1 third that.
