It is formulaic **** of the highest order, hosted by 3 absolute tits whose humour is sub schoolyard standard, one of whom is a xenophobic bigot.
It is well produced, no problem saying that, and the Christmas specials that I've seen have been watchable, despite the main idiot presenting it.
I cannot fathom how anyone finds Jeremy Clarkson in any way funny. Hes a modern day Alf Garnett, an embarrassing uncle.
Its the Loaded magazine of TV, presented by cringeworthy middle aged men, I for owe am made up its been put to sleep!

I'm open to correction but I think the biplane was a Pitts Special. If its a Pitts Special, its not a WW1 plane but one of the original crop-sprayer planes.

As for the rest of the show, it was the typical formulaic stuff. I got the impression that the segments were lengthened from the usual show segments.

Edit - its a STearman biplane, a WW2 trainer built by Boeing.

Why are people who dont like Top Gear coming in here with their negative posts trying to kick something when its down? Its truly pathetic.

Free speech, which apparently is something greatly valued by fans of Jeremy Clarkson.

Can I just ask a quick question to all the top gear/ Clarkson haters.

What do you want from the "new" top gear? Please don't answer with the "at least the 3 middle aged bores are gone" etc.

I enjoyed the rapport between the lads. I just can't see that being replicated by Evans and Co. I'd expect the ratings to plummet when it comes back again.

Anything. Anything at all, surprise me, give something a try.

I don't hate the outgoing presenters, but the format was as stale as dried ****e at this stage and I'm gad it has ended, because even if the new format doesn't work at least they tried something.

I didn't even bother watching tonight, had no interest at all and I used to be a massive fan. It just got tired and boring.

The cars and the HD production and the sounds of wailing engines on a sunday evening. This programme should be about the cars, all of them from £1,000 ropey classics to multi million pound hyper cars.
It's not meant to be about the presenters. If the presenters are dominant the show is failing it's solid core audience of petrol head enthusiasts.

In general goading in a thread about a TV show you don't like is trolling. i don't like coronation street and I don't post on the threads about it because I don't watch it. And you don't have free speech on the Internet.

Anyway as a card carrying leftist who disliked their boorish humour, didn't give a sh1t about the car review show, forwarded winded the reasonably priced car piss and the bad interviews I will miss this for the specials.

    Until it appears in Netflix.

Didn't c d show - may look at it on replay - if its der - No time 4 Clarkson, never had. He thought he was untouchable assaulting a valued member of BBC's Top Gear Production Team- He Played a high "Steaks" game which didn't go to plan.

Top gear needs to get back to basics now instead of being such utter tripe. Remember when there used to be real wrestling on ITV on Saturday afternoons then it became popular and consumed itself, top gear has done the same! It used to be a real show but became some jokefest operated by clowns.get a few real mechanics and car enthusiasts to do a real show and see how it goes!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 554 ✭✭✭James Delaney

Totally agree & at least 50% of show should b devoted to reviewing affordable cars instead of Clarksons toys that not many people can afford - thats not 2say expensive cars should be omitted.
And as for the 3 lads going on their Famous 3 or Secret 3 journeys - that stage production crap is not what I regard entertainment.

Such a show won't get the ratings. What you're describing is 5th Gear...

He is so valued that he'll be fired within a year as Top Gear shuts down due to poor viewing numbers while the the three stars will be leading a new show to ever greater number of views. What people appear to have forgotten is what made Top Gear was not the cars but the presenters. A pure TV show about cars does not work; there are a ton out there and they are all way to niche which is showing in their viewing numbers.

Actually, what made Top Gear was the production. The classic Top Gear was a triumph of the production team with some great ideas, fantastic camera work and some very intelligent decisions. The presenters certainly played a big part, but they were not the reason for its success.

In my opinion you will see this wherever they go next, people will be watching the 3 lads on their new show and after a few month will start to realise that it isn't the same, that something is missing and will once again start to drift away from watching. There is no way the new show will have an "ever greater number of views". The lads "banter" is not enough.

It was a weak show tbh. I saw a comment somewhere from Andy Wilman that the films used for last nights show "were never meant to carry the burden of being the last" and it showed, they were both middle of the road "filler" episodes. Would have been nice to see them go out on a higher note with one of the great specials where they really achieved something (e.g. getting a jeep to the North Pole, finding the source of the Nile etc.) rather than two very formulaic pieces.

Don't get me wrong I've loved Top Gear but could definitely do without so much of the stupid modifications they make to the cars, the lugging around crap furniture etc. Honestly I think the three guys are at their best when they're off-script and just enjoying themselves playing silly pranks on each other (e.g. spraying Hammond's bike pink in Vietnam, grating the cheese into James's Alfa before a concourse competition etc.)

I did find myself uttering a line I never thought I'd hear myself say: "I want that Peugeot". :p

It's just a bit weird that you would take that much time if your life to announce your hatred for the show and it's presenters. Most normal people ignore things they dislike.

    Didn't mean to offend anyone.

It was a decent final episode based on the fact that they had very little footage to work with. The end really got me.. :(

I thought it was a decent episode too and I was actually delighted to see them doing more "buy a certain type of car for this budget" parts.

I'm not really worried though - looking forward to seeing their new show (Clarkson, Hammond and May).
