Front squat problems(crossed arms/Olympic)

I have been doing the crossed arms position for this for 2 years but I have heard that the Olympic style grip is more beneficial for thoracic extension etc so I have been trying it out recently. I experience pain in the wrists, elbows and I don't have the flexibility in my arms to keep my elbows high for proper form. Any advice?

Try stretching out your lats more. Triceps as well. That should help getting your elbows higher.

If you find yourself leaning forward a little on it, you need to look at thoracic spine mobility as well.

But it might take some time to bring those up to par so in the short term, you could work around it using straps.
