What an incredible first hour of play

This is pretty poor from Australia - 7 wickets down inside an hour! Awful from Clarke again, playing at a ball he could barely reach. Smith terrible too, has not adjusted his style for English conditions at all. This match is surely over after the first hour on day 1. Be interesting to see how England do on this pitch - obviously won't be as bad as Aus!

Jaysus. Just came out of a meeting to see this and am gobsmacked.

I heard Broad on the radio this morning about how his parents and granny are at the game to see his 300th wicket. The pressure hasn't got to him!

We should be able to pre-emptively make Australia follow-on.

If Lyth gets a century here we've officially entered bizarro world.

Lyth out for 14. We're still in the real world

I'd like to remind any england selectors reading that I am available to open and I can guarantee I wont do a much worse job than Lyth

Think you may have a better chance applying to the Aussie selectors. ...

Starc bolwing very well. Johnson and Hazelwood just getting the treatment though so far.

Just switched on and can't believe the scores so far!!!!

Not just India then who can't play the swinging ball

TBH the writing was on the wall for the Aussies once they showed how clueless they were against the swinging ball at Edgbaston

Clarke and a few others have one more innings at prolonging their careers but hard to see Clarke playing the final test if Australia get thumped here

Haven't been able to watch this today and seem to have missed so much! Incredible bowling figures for Broad. Another short test match!

England 184-3, 124 ahead. Once again, Root (80*) showing everyone how to bat. What an elegant innings in tricky conditions - he makes it look so easy! This match is surely all over already. If England can get another 150 (a 1st innings lead of 280 or more) , they probably won't have to bat again.

Edit: Root has also taken 4 wickets in this series so far!
