Adobe update came with Mcafee can't uninstall.

I updated Adobe the other day and before i realised they snuck in Mcafee security scan. I started to noticed my computer running slow, while checking what programs were running i noticed Mcafee. Also in services i saw ssscheduler.exe which i believe is mcafee. I have tried to uninstall in add/remove but this causes the computer to hang/freeze at this point i have to force shutdown. I have also tried to stop these programs running before uninstalling with no luck.I have checked online for a solution but just keep being directed to add/remove. Any ideas folks on how to get around this.

Thanks gctest50 but i have tried that product remover, causes the computer to hang. Can't even open the program. Getting really pissed off now.

Thanks anyway, Any other ideas?
