$59.99 is the US PPV price. Those lads get rode on everything.

AFAIK It's because of the distribution deal with the satellite PPV provider. UFC aren't allowed to undercut them online website. Same here in Australia, ufc.tv PPV is $49 (SD) to $59 (HD).

UK and Ireland really have a great deal atm.

Does anyone know what fights Setanta are showing, is it just the main card (5 fights) or also the prelims?

It's just an old picture, going by the rest of the poster their photoshop skills aren't the best :pac:

Would they have a licence for that?

I thought I read something on the FAQ of UFC.tv about blackout of the event in the UK? Probably due to BT Sports coverage?

I saw that picture on Facebook a few days ago and someone mentioned that in the comments too.
According to the organiser, he had to use that image because of "the UFC practically owning McGregors likeness" or something to that effect. (I'm paraphrasing)
Not sure how true that is but it sounds like he was covering his ass just in case.

Tbh if that were true, then they own that image too as its equally his likeness.

    Like I said......I was paraphrasing.
I'm not sure of the wording the guy used but it was something along those lines.
And I think he was probably just naively trying to cover himself.

So BT is the only channel that this can be watched live on in Ireland?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,861 ✭✭✭Irishcrx

Just on BT Sport lads , I have it and I'm only paying €10 a month for it. There is no minimum contract either , so ring them up and haggle a bit looking for €10 a month if you want the fight on TV/HD whatever and then cancel afterwards if you don't want to keep it.

I'm really looking forward to Saturday , not just McGregor but it's a decent overall card to be fair.

Correct yep. Other options are games console or PC.

Yeah that's going to be a really interesting fight as well. I actually have no idea who to put my money on it that one.

Hey lads. Are ye sure the Fight Pass PPV will work in Ireland. I want to pay the €18 to ensure I've a good stream but it says on the site it'll not work in the UK as BT Sports have the rights. Does that extend to Ireland? Has anybody ever watched a PPV in Ireland on Fight Pass?

I can't post links so ye will have to copy and paste this

Jesus didn't know that I just assumed it would be sold out. I'll try and scrape that money together it'll be worth it. Hoping there will be loads of us there. It should be a great atmosphere, ticket or not. Thanks lads

    Bellagio

You could go to the sportsbook in there and watch it there, youll get handy/cheap beer and a decent seat, other than that go to the MGM and see what they have to offer. No doubt there will have a big spectacle going on.

If it was me Id go to the MGM with a fat tuesday in my hand and watch the fight.

Perfect that was more or less the plan and is exactly what I'll be doing if I can't afford to splash out on the ticket. Nice one.

I watched UFC 183 in January when I was in Ireland. It was listed a black out in the UK (due to BT I assume) but it work with no issues.

There are viewing partys all over as part of fight week. I'd head to one of them if I had no ticket. details are on the fight week app

Yeah I paid for it with not a bother earlier. I have my Irish address/ card hooked up with the fightpass account so if they let me pay for it I'm assuming everything will be okay.

MGM look to have cancelled their plans for screening it in a ballroom (was going to be $75 entry). If I was you and decided not to get tickets I'd go to one of the official viewing parties in Double Barrel or Ri-Ra. Not only will there be a few fighters there but there'll be a much better atmosphere with other MMA fans over for fight week. Looks like they'll be only $25 entry so not breaking the bank.

I'll be watching the fight on mobile internet. Is 15gb enough data to stream both Fight Pass prelims and UFC TV 189?

Depends on what speed you get and the quality of the stream.
If it's fast and in HD you could be caught short in 15GB for all prelims and main card

Yep, download the UFC.tv app and you can purchase/watch there - €17.99

Pre-lims are free and you can watch those too

Pretty sure this isnt correct unless its changed recently. The UFC app isnt on ps4 yet, its only on xbox.

To the guy that asked, best bet is but it on ufc.tv and hook your laptop up to the tv if you have one and watch it on tv through that.

Crap sorry, my bad.. didn't realise it wasn't released on ps4 yet :o

not sure to be honest but i suspect you d have to order the package but i could be wrong. sure give them a ring and see

They're doing a one-off deal for the fight of €14.99 for one months access to the Setanta package.

I think it's normally €19.99 p/m but a minimum of 2 months (Open to correction on this).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,033 ✭✭✭✭Richard Hillman

I'm going to purchase it to watch on my Xbox. I'm very worried as its very inconsistent. Watching replays has been ok but i have never watched a live event on it. I have Sky Go and it can be very hit and miss and I have a decent broadband connection. I remember it buffering during the last play of the Superbowl. The suspense :pac:

Be careful with this, order it asap or ring to confirm first as I think it takes 24hrs to activate. Have seen people order for boxing etc and then not have it on time for the event.
