Was stuck behind a brand spanking 152 Audi Q5 yesterday where the owner must've been driving back from the showroom as he was doing half the speed limit.

What caught my attention was not the new car but the strong smell of burning plastic coming off it

Mustn't have been coming from the Audi. They have a dedicated nose team to make sure their cars smell just right!

    I s**t you not! :P

Nice motor will that have the newer higher bhp engine?

Got my 152 yesterday morning, awful picture but the car is nice enough. It's the 1.6Tdi SE Sportback in Scuba blue with slightly upgraded wheels.
Bought a car on the same day two years ago, a 132 reg A3 and the plate was no. 266 so that's some increase, about 2.8 times more ?

yes, I made sure of that....dct is tweaked aswell, which is good as the transmission seems to be the major gripe on most reviews

A Brownish colour if I'm not mistaken? If that's it then it's been a short 2 years! Seems like no length since you posted it!

You have a good memory, it was indeed a brownish colour, Audi called it Dekota Grey. I was going to get the same again but the wife wanted the Scuba blue....so we got Scuba blue

The reg numbers are significantly higher than the same period in 142, never mind 132. The Dublin 152's are tipping 10k already. The recession is over...

The IX35 I still find baffling. Are they offering massive discounts or what? There's no way I'd be buying a model (especialy as the name is going) that's about to be pensioned off in a few months.

Saw 2200 on a C reg the other day, I was kinda wondering what it would be at myself. Not that it makes a blind bit of difference to anything!

I know 2 people who collected D reg's yesterday and both were just under the 10k. But here in Galway a guy I work with collected during the week and the G reg is still in the 700's.

Ive seen a lot of the Transit Connect's around (really nice looking IMO), but only a handful of the normal Transits.

Neighbor has one and its interior is a huge step up from previous models.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,421 ✭✭✭ofcork

Few of the transit custom but no standard ones a 152 mazda 6 at work looks well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,845 ✭✭✭Noccy_Mondy

I've seen a few 152 transits around. Think there's a delay in orders though.

Was with the uncle a while back as he was looking at getting a new transit bus. I much prefer the previous model, the double axle lwb new transit looks awful awkward and out of proportion. The old one looks a lot better imo.

A sales rep comes in to where I work a bit and he drives a 152 Transit lwb with the high roof and they look terrible from the front. Interior is nice and loads of room in it, but the styling is not anything to brag about.

The new Transit Connect vans are decent looking. I'd definitely buy one just for the looks alone.

Yes it's being replaced by the new Tucson in the next month or two.

So month end figures just in and do we detect a changing of the guard? Hyundai finish on top probably for the first time ever in Ireland in a major sales month. With over 27,000 registrations in July vs 29,000 in January - its now clear there is a very clear 2 registration plate system finally established. Overall July finished at 27,663 up 48% or 8,922 on July 2014.

    Month End July:

Top ten makes are as follows:
    1. Hyundai 3,154 +1423 2. VW 3,065 +798 3. Toyota 2,860 +925 4. Ford 2,751 +925 5. Nissan 2,654 +1,271 6. Opel 1,755 +367 7. Skoda 1,689 +548 8. Renault 1,558 +420 9. Kia 1,193 +404 10. Audi 1,012 +260

Top ten models are as follows:
    1. Golf 1,053 +307 2. Qashqai 1,042 +273 3. Focus 955 +145 4. Fiesta 923 +267 5. Octavia 877 +394 6. IX35 860 +349 7. Corolla 740 +174 8. Passat 637 +251 9. Yaris 592 + 251 10. Sportage 583 +267

Crazy numbers of car hire. 5,264 vs 3886 in July 2014. 15% (800) of all Fords were car hire. 13% (675) of all Nissans were car hire. They were the two above 10% of month volume.

If you want any other numbers shout. Figures courtesy of SIMI and BeepBeep.ie

And I see the Kadjar is out this month too. Considering the success of the Captur, and the fact that it is based on the Qashqai and better priced, it could be another great seller

It looks good there in red. Must say the interior could have done with more style do and still can,t believe they are not using soft touch plastics on the dash even Kia has a soft touch dash on the currant Sportage and the new one which is out early next year will be better again but the looks might devoid opinion more than the current one.

It's rotten. The current Sportage is a handsome looking car, but that new one. Such a huge step backwards. I'm sure the interior will be much better however.

I think Hyundai/Kia have decided that if you want a car that looks good on the outside and it that fussed about soft touch materials inside then you buy the Hyundai but if you do not care what the outside looks like and prefer to have a high quality interior you can buy the Kia. Either that or Hyundai was not too happy that most people thought the last Sportage looked better than there IX35 and have decided that there car should be ugly this time.

Was half considering one. Prices are up now. 37k for the 4wd. That's with the mid tier executive trim, no premium or premium plus spec offered with the larger engine. Doesn't even have auto wipers FFS. Hope Kias prices and options are better.
