Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

50m pounds is 71m Euro.. thats near enough to what we paid, id be sad that he didn't stick around but if he chooses to go, practically recouping our money would be fine by me. Would need a big signing as well

    We paid 59m sterling right?

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Ronaldo back if Di Maria goes.

Yep but since then the euro has weakened, so £59 million a year ago ( september 2014) was €74.8 million

We need Pedro and Muller to compensate for Di Maria leaving

I know he had a poor season but he's incredibly talented and Mata Depay and Rooney are the only mentionable attackers we have left if he leaves

If he is sold I hope he's sold before the replacement comes in.
Always worse when it happens the other way around.

But Utd paid in Sterling so getting the same Euro value back means they make a £9m loss.

I went big on the betting :P

€5 on Ramos @ 4/1 to join United
€5 on De Gea @6/4 to join Madrid
Went all out on Muller, €2 at 3/1

Watch the odds now tumble :P

If ur basing this off rumours surely putting the 10 on Ramos was the way to go given the stories going say its a swap or nothing.

Good luck all the same, hope u win 2/3 :P

True but at least I can say I made money on De Gea if he leaves as expected, will leave with happy memories of a few euro...

Looks like the media were briefed about DiMaria, everyone reporting it within minutes of each other

I would say they won't lose anywhere near 5m if this deal is structured like most. United could have paid as little as 20 up front with rest paid in installments meaning the exchange rate has less of effect then most would think. Hopefully that's the case

Given that much of the talk recently has been about how LVG has been gleefully taking the mick out if the press, why then is everyone taking his comment (to the press) about a secret striker as being completely serious and legit?

Serious bang of Heskey off him.

    Benheske if you will.

    No thanks.

Really? Even if we get a really good cb and striker in?

The guy just mightnt like the UK or can't cut it in the PL.

If we sell him it'll be because he wants to go.

If that's the case then unfortunately we just have to move on. Need every player pulling for the cause this season - not contemplating being elsewhere. As long as we replace him and get the correct money for him, then I'm ok with him. Do think it's a mutual thing between LVG and him - he may not like it in Manchester and LVG may not trust him to follow his instructions.

    100% agree.

If Di Maria leaves it's because he doesn't like England, and it's as simple as that. I personally want him to show the determination to succeed and get back to his best, but if his family really are miserable there's not much he can do in fairness.

Being angry at the club over Di Maria leaving would be senseless.

Real are in Spain, they'd have been paid in Euro most likely. He probably wasn't paid for in a lump either, meaning that United would owe them Euro.

Anyone staying up for the match?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

Im still here lads, same as last game, cant sleep.

Years of going to sleep around 2-3 has stopped my ability to sleep at a respectable time.

Oh well, stay up, watch game, be like a zombie tomorrow. Thats the only option now.

I hope too! 5 am kickoff where I am and work at 8.30 though coupled with the fact that some beers have me convinced I can stay up more than likely means I will miss it!

I'm hoping my body does me a favour and finds the energy to wake up and watch it though!

I have a feeling it will be a good one, yet again that could be the beer talking.

Hopefully he stays. I want him to do well even though I'm not a big Di Maria fan. I find myself wanting him to stay more from a united fan view than player view.

It wouldn't look great if we dumped someone after one season and would rather us see him have another chance to prove himself. If he does find his form he'd be a huge part of the tram. If is the big thing though.

Pereira will play centrally tonight and Januzaj out wide and Johnstone will get the full 90th due to Lindegaard being injured.

Excellent news and price for Di Maria if true. Wasn't PSG his preferred destination last season ? Winning a champions league and getting to a world cup final in the peak of his career and he wants him play in the French league :D It tells you everything you need to know about this guy

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,017 ✭✭✭TheMilkyPirate

we've been sloppy at times, lots of misplaced rushed passes, stuff you'd expect pre season really and still creating chances, would like to depay get on the ball and run at them more.
