    Morgan Schneiderlin...

    Last season in PL
Played the first 13 games for Southampton: 8 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses
Misses next 4 games: 1 win and 3 losses.
Returns and wins next 2 games.
Then suspended but they win without him.
    Returns and beats United.
Injured and misses next two game:1 win, 1 loss.
    Returns and team wins.
Not in the squad for next game: draw
Plays next 9 games: wins 3, draws 2, loss 4.
Then injured and not played again: 1 win, 3 loss

    So when he played:
    15 wins, 4 draws, 7 loss
49 points in 26 games, average 1.88 points per game.

    When he didn't play
    4 wins, 1 draw, 7 loss.
13 points in 12 games, average 0.92 points per game.

Morgan Schneiderlin was a key player for Southampton.
18 games were in defensive midfield.
    8 games in centre midfield.

I think what we can learn from this is even more proof that the English journos don't know jack sh!t anymore. Another transfer out of the blue which was broken first abroad, with no sign of the players the English media are constantly linking us with. I wouldn't pay much heed to anything the likes of Jamie Jackson say anymore.

Either COPE or El Confidential had that story yesterday. Now Marca running with it.
Keylor Navas would be an excellent signing, and most of us would love Ramos...

Whoever bought Ed a PS4 back in 2013 thank you, playing FIFA is working :P I always bought Schweinsteiger.

Dont agree with you on cb, fergie signed two of the up and coming english defenders to come in after rio and vidic were done who were also two of the best cb pairings available a few year ago.
Its not fergies fault jones and smalling have been crippled by injuries in the past 2 seasons or they havent came on the way we would of like. People are too quick to jump on thenlets blame fergie bandwagon yehh he didnt leave midfield in the best of conditions but he left the club in a far better state then he got it and that should bever be overlooked.

Jones isn't crippled by injuries, he's mentally crippled.

Sure look, where was Real Madrid when Southampton had Gareth Bale?
United were interested but were not aggressive enough to get him.

That reminds me. I had the same argument in this thread when you signed Jones.

People in here were calling him 'te best young defender in the world'.

    I disagreed.

If you look at any of the great defenders, cannavaro, maldini, Stam and so on they are intelligent. His positioning is terrible and chases the ball like a jack Russell.

United are so clever, thinking of shirt sales and length of names.

You don't put Depay on your shirt, you put Memphis.
Rafael had only 6 letters, for right back so we had to use Valencia, but we needed an upgrade so Darmian has enough letters.
Otamendi is nailed on with 8 letters..
Schweinsteiger takes the prize and you partner him with Schneiderlin, extra orders of S, C, H, N along with E and I required for United.

    Long names increasing shirt revenues...

Don't see the need to compare him with all time great CB's when he's just a kid yet. At 23 Jaap Stan was still playing for SC Cambuur in Holland by the way.

Don't know if it's part of it, but really hate the way the modern fan expects everything now. No time to develop, it has to happen now and that's it. And if not then the player is sh*te

I know right. Let's compare every single player to the best players.

He is one of the best young defender in Europe right now. He is 23.

For some reason when anyone other than a young defender makes a mistake, he is learning, he is young, bla bla.
    But not defenders.

Best example is Varane. People who never watched him say he is the best young CB and near perfect but he makes so many mistakes when not playing with experienced CB.

But I can see a massive difference between smalling and Jones, Smalling has intelligence and plays more with his brain which is what good defenders need, I know some people dislike Johnny Evans but I think him and smalling will be better Cb and young paddy McNair learning his trade.

Just don't see Jones ever getting there.

Exactly. Apparently to a lot of people all these players are near perfect. Guess it's easy to read the positive hype on the internet and just believe it.

I mentioned it before, but the more you see of a player, the worse he is and vice versa.

Smalling is a different type of defender to Jones. He also gets caught out of position as much as, if not more than Jones.

I think they compliment each other very well as a partnership ala Rio Vidic, Bruce Pallister, although obviously not at that level.

It's their horrendous injury records and possibly lack of lead ship skills at the back that has Utd crying out for an experienced CB.

Jones is the new Nani now is he now Nani has departed????
Christ some people are never happy
Jones when played in 1 position has improved game on game
But shifting him to RB,CB and cm for club and country does t help his development
Smalling has mostly played at CB and so develops the positional sense etc
If Jones had the same time at CB as Snalling hed blow Smalling out of the water

Disagree with this very strongly. Smalling's positioning is pretty strong, he was the one marshaling our offside trap last season and doing it well. You very rarely see Smalling in a bad position to cover, and given Valencia's foibles last season that was badly needed. I also think he and Jones don't mesh well because Jones doesn't mesh that well with anybody to be honest. Jones comes way too far out towards the ball, it leaves a huge gap for other defenders to cover, or the midfield is pulled back, either deep or out of shape. He isn't even that good at winning it first time anymore.

I don't think Smalling will be as good as Ferdinand or Vidic but see no reason why he can't be as good as Pallister or Johnsen.

Rumored wages for Schweinsteiger is 10 Million Euros (IIRC Bayern wages are before tax), so that's 7 million pounds, less than what Milner is getting at Liverpool. Nothing like Falcao deal.

Nah, the buckfast breakfast has nothing to do with it. Just my opinion of the player having weighed up everything.

Very good, competent but overrated. Great for most teams but Utd will probably need better long run. Great squad option.
