moved to Old Trafford from Atheltic Bilbao last summer, but according to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb (h/t the Daily Star's Alex Harris), Atletico Madrid and Valencia are eyeing Herrera.

He had a successful maiden season in Manchester, proving an effective creative force while also netting six Premier League goals, per WhoScored.com.

Fresh Football's Oli Price-Bates suggests that, despite his strong opening season, United boss Louis van Gaal is not Herrera's biggest fan:

Also I know Napoli say Higuain is not for sale but I'd like him to come in, probably cost around €40+ million.

See this is what i dont get higuain as a similar goals to game ratio then benteke last season and probably the season before too, he is also playing in arguably a poorer league he is also two years older then benteke and is known to throw a strop but yet people would rather we sign him and take a chance on him settling in england then buy a striker that has already settled in the league.

Makes sense selling evans imo considering we have smalling, jones, rojo otamendi(probable) blind and Carrick can also cover if required and he's only got a year left

And you forgot the most important reason of all for selling him ....... evans has gone backwards in past few years :)

I'm almost certain I read the same about Falcao. That was great. What could possibly go wrong?

Falcao was coming back from a serious injury and was only a loan deal so was risk free.

I think its just Higuain is a bigger name around the world so he must be better than Benteke

You may say risk free, but how much wages was he on.

Also take into account that he may have reduced game time for players that we actually owned.

I'm sure Cavani is good but the Falcao and ADM debacle has put me off marquee signings.

So you disappointed with us signing bastian?

Not disappointed but he is in the same category. Big name to prove Utd have pulling power. I don't think Fergie would have bought him.

Plus, Bastian isn't a journey man that is always linked to big clubs in every transfer window.

Haha based on what? We have no idea who Fergie would buy but if he was available I think Fergie would have jumped on it. He signed Michael Owen from Newcastle FFS

A leader for the midfield, a proven winner? Fergie would have been all over Schweinsteiger.

Kleberson, djemba-djemba, Liam Miller. Maybe fergie wouldn't have signed schweinsteiger :p

Being honest he'd probably have bought some 18 year old from Blackburn and tell everybody he's the next Bobby Charlton.

Not the first ever Friday night game in the EPL.
United played Chelsea on a Friday night .

It's the Liverpool echo who reported it ya? Is that what people are jumping on?

It's weird how the second a rumour involving another club apart from utd is reported it's true.

James Pearce and the Echo are by far the most reliable sources when it comes to all things Liverpool.

United's Champions League qualifier will be played on the 18th/19th August, with the 2nd leg on either the 25th/26th August. It's all here on Uefa's website.

will be interesting to see if we get some more deals done soon - a striker to replace Falcao/RVP and a defender for the first team. With the copa america lads joining up on the 25th I reckon we could see Otamendi confirmed around then. Hoepfully we are still after a striker because I don't trust Chico to prove good enough.

With Benteke clearly not a target, I wonder who is.

I guess we'll know if RTÉ/TV3 will show it free to air a few weeks before hand.

God damn Sky Sports not holding on to the Champions League.

Makes shelling out for BT/Setanta easier to take... must say they have built a very good package.... tbh without the PL games sky sports would be a waste of money.

The TV deal for Friday night games doesn't start until 2016/17 season.

this one was moved for an event too - an EDL march on the saturday and our CL game ment Saturday and Sunday were out.

First proper Friday night games (as a TV package) is the following season.

Guess i'll be watching the Champions League on RTÉ/TV3 then, if they get to air them, or i could just follow the games online.... Don't like BT analysis team or commentary, gah the thought of listening to Michael Owen/Robbie Savage for 90 minutes...... Would gladly take RTÉ's coverage anyday.

BT have to show some of the champions league coverage fta this season though that may be later in season? Fingers crossed for you that the qualifiers are.
Also hoping that bt don't increase prices due to adding the European footy channel as have been with them 12 months and find it reasonable compared to sky

So Valdes is off to Valencia by the looks of it.

Juventus have started talking to Bayern about Gotze and rumors abound Pogba will sign for Barca after the presidentals this week.

I still think we need to go bigger, get Veratti, bid for Gotze, lets go after the best like the top clubs. Gotze would fancy UTD more than Juve I reckon.

Do we really need another midfielder though? We are overstocked there and don't have the quality in numbers in defence or upfront yet

Would be surprised if we went for Veratti after signing two Schmidfielders already. Also think Gotze would be too similar to Mata to buy, would prefer a more natural winger if we are signing someone, as I reckon we will need a repalcement for ADM.

Exactly. We should not, nor will we, sign another midfielder this summer.

Thats my point though. Do Bayern really need Vidal, do Barca really need Pogba?

Veratti could be snapped up by one of the elitle this window, they don't seem to mind. Sometimes buying so your oppents can't get a player is a strategy.
