cancelled a flight in april due to a family death.

was able to claim some fee back from insurance but not the airport taxes.

am I entitled to claim back the airport taxes from airline or airport?

This crowd will do the work for you. I think you can get the tax back minus an admin fee, which is airline dependent (Aer Lingus for example charge €20).

You can apply to the airline, I don't see the point in paying a middle man and giving him power of attorney. The airline will take their admin fee anyway.

Claims for refunds should be submitted directly to the relevant airline. Such refunds may be subject to an administration fee.

Note that the Irish State don't levy any taxes on airport departures.

The tax was abolished on 1st April 2014.

So there are no taxes to be rebated.

You may be thinking about airport charges.
