Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Craig here,

    White shirt and slacks lad.

Yeah the first RAAT type one was rough enough.

Second one was fairly fun. Got about 35 ish down I think and didn't mess any up.

I could swear the male driver's name was Joan on the rWCE😂😂. Fairly comfortable with that but ran out of room in the report section so I had to go onto the border a bit.

Hope yous all did fairly well!

Has anyone ever had a medical and had to go back for a follow up? I had high blood pressure on the day of my initial medical but all sorted now with my GP.

Just wondering if I'll be expected to complete full medical again or will it just be to clarify their queries about my BP.

Anyone else have a simular experience in this at all?

    Cheers in advance!

  • Registered Users Posts: 20 Thecallkid

Had identical experience. BP high on the day, rechecked with pharmacy, emailed result over to IR and moved on. Didn't have to go back to IR doc at all.

Think it's checked again at end of driver training.

  • Registered Users Posts: 420 ✭✭Designator

I had the exact same but she told me I still passed the medical but wanted me to get another check done with my doctor which I’m doing next week and then back to CIE doctor in January again

  • Registered Users Posts: 60 ✭✭jumpinjohnny85

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

I was put on a med by my doctor as I was slightly high after being monitored for 48hrs. All under control and no longer an issue now (was 4 months ago) I'm assuming this is why I'm being called back.

I was just wondering if I'd have to complete the whole medical again or if it will just be a case of them following up on my BP.

Cheers Designator, thanks for the response. Do you know if we woukd need to complete the medical in full or will it just be a BP check?

How many times do you have to go to Inchicore/elsewhere as part of the application process? What are the phases of the application process, probably a similar question I suppose.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4 johnny1000

Failed the assessment for the driver job on a more positive note got an email today to say I've been selected to go forward for the face to face assessment for the station operative position which will be sometime in the next 24 months according to the email.

Assessment is what you did at home to qualify you for Phase 1

Anyone that has been through the process for driver, how long has it taken to hear back after medical to see if all is well? I have everything else completed and just anxious I could fall at this hurdle.

If medical is passed, what are next steps? Contact with GP? Reference? CV?

  • Registered Users Posts: 18 LaCla

For station operative applicant i got email saying that I'm on a panel of 24 months. Does it means that i could wait 2 years to hear back from them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,664 ✭✭✭Citizen Six

They often tell you at the medical whether you have passed it or not. If you remember the doctor who did the final part with you, you could contact them to ask.

No reason to contact your GP if everything was normal. You'll probably get the email to say they'll be in touch in due course. Checking references is the last step and is usually just done over the phone.

What station have ye applied for station operative

  • Registered Users Posts: 18 MK108

Hey, just wondering if anyone heard back about the latest phase 1 tests in Inchicore?

  • Registered Users Posts: 50 ✭✭Alpha1-1Cretty

@MK108 Nothing so far. I don't imagine we'll be left sitting too long though. Admin said it could be a few weeks. Successful applicants should be doing phase 2 mid January.

I'd suspect we won't hear until early Jan

  • Registered Users Posts: 6 magicjohnson94

    Hi lads,

I done phase 1 tests in Inchicore 7th december, and guy said that no message from them before end of the year is a good sign because they will be contacting people which didnt go through.

You should get sorted for a station op job very quickly as they are short staffed plus there are a heap of retirees next year. What area was you looking for?

  • Registered Users Posts: 68 ✭✭gazzac

    Limerick I put in for

i wonder what sort of numbers got through or if everyone who completed phase 1 gets to go to phase two and then they combine scores and whittle it down?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6 magicjohnson94

Made it. It's a privilege to be alongside all of you. I'm gonna enjoy these next few more than the last from what I've been told about them. Can't wait to see yous all there. I'm going for 2:15pm on both days

  • Registered Users Posts: 50 ✭✭Alpha1-1Cretty

    @recruit1994

Phase 1 is definitely a stage you can be dropped at as far as I've seen and heard. Luck has nothing to do with it now Lads. It's all on us

  • Registered Users Posts: 38 slowclap

They definitely pare it down quite a bit between phases as far as I could tell when I did mine in the summer. You either meet the standard or you don’t.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2 Innisfree92

Does anybody know the story with paternity leave during classroom training?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,664 ✭✭✭Citizen Six

It would be tough, but depends what stage you were at. How much would you need to take?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2 Innisfree92

It would be roughly 12 weeks in to the Classroom Training and hoping to take at least a week when baby is born

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,664 ✭✭✭Citizen Six

I’d say that would be fine. Just talk to your trainers in the first week about it. They’ll have a plan of what is covered each week, so will know where about you’ll be around the time of the birth.

No confirmation email for phase 2 before the deadline this time round. Perhaps there'll be a few no shows 🤷‍♂️ SCAAT, VSE and Pre interview form looks like itl be fairly fun tbh. Only thing I was worried about was memory test in phase one.

    Hey,

Has anyone got a confirmation email for their phase 2 invites ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 18 MK108

    Hi,

I received mine just now. Remember to check your junk folder too. 👍

  • Registered Users Posts: 49 TheBackRoads

Got my invitation to Phase 2 earlier today, but I have a silly question if anyone could answer.

In the email they said we'll be doing IE LD SJT and that we've done it before, but I genuinely forgot what it is and can't find any answers anywhere.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,664 ✭✭✭Citizen Six

Think you probably did a simple version of the SJT when you first applied.

You'll have received an email with various practice materials, as mentioned above.

  • Registered Users Posts: 49 TheBackRoads

    Thanks guys, sorted now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 801 ✭✭✭xlogo

What are the jobs and where are they advertised?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,664 ✭✭✭Citizen Six

Train drivers, and advertised on the Irish Rail website every few months. You need to keep an eye on this thread, or their website, if you are interested in applying.

    Hi all

loads of great info here, thanks a mill.

I have applied for the station Operative position and have my onsite assessment next Monday in Inchicore. I received the email with the below,

In order to pursue your application for the above role, you will be required to complete the following assessments:

TRFS – Trainability for Rules & Procedures – 45 minutes – information here : //w ww.theopc.co.uk/assessment /test/trfs/ (attached – included in the Irish Rail Driver 2020 PTMs booklet)

rWce – Railway Written Communications Exercise – 40 minutes – information here : // theopc .co.uk/assessmen t/test/rwce/ (attached – included in the Irish Rail Driver 2020 PTMs booklet)

    SCAAT – Safe Concentration and Attention Test – 45 minutes – information here - : //www. theopc.co.uk/assess ment/test/scaat/ (attached – SCAAT – Practice Leaflet)

    TDCT – Train Dispatch & Concentration Test – 45 minutes – information here: :// www.t heo pc.co.uk/assessmen t/test/tdct/  (attached – TDCT – Practice Leaflet & TDCT – Instructions for Friend/Relative)

    PPT – Professional Planning Test– 50 minutes – information here - ://www.t h e opc.co .uk/a ssessmen t/test /ppt/ (attached – PPT – Practice Leaflet)

Does anyone know will i have to do the TRFS as well? as this is just for Train Driver I think?

Also the links seem to have no online practice session, Practice available for €9 per test. did I miss something?

I have seen the PDF attachments but just wondered if there was online practice I missed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,664 ✭✭✭Citizen Six

Did they not send you an email of practice materials? The OPC tests are probably not worth the cost.

Why do you think station ops wouldn't need to understand rules and procedures?
