raspberry pi b+ network

Hi all just bought a pi for the sole purpose of running kodi on my TV all good except it does not connect to the network?? I'm using power line adapter which are working on other devices?? Computer illiterate would be an understatement! Any help appreciated!!

Not a notion but could probably Google how to and get the command from u if u wouldn't mind!

type in sudo ifconfig and hit Enter
what you're looking for is

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:24:e8:1a:3b:42
inet addr:192.168.1.22 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0

eht0 is your connection to the eircom/vodafone whatever router.
inet addr is the address the router gives you when you plug in your pi to the wall.

your inet addr is going to be different than mine.

This what I got

Its self assigning an IP address, that means its not able to talk to your router at all.

If the homeplug connection works for other devices the first thing id try is changing the ethernet cable.
