Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Weights for marathon training

Currently about to begin training for my first marathon. Prefer weight training but just want to get a marathon done. I did 5 x 5 before and for the past few months have been doing Candito. Has anyone got an idea of what would be a decent plan to do whilst training for a marathon? Its not necessarily for strength or to help with the running, I just don't want to look too skinny.

I imagine keeping your calorie intake high is going to be the most important factor in avoiding getting skinny. If you're doing a lot of cardio then keep gorging on carbs to counter it. I don't think there is any specific plan that would sync up with marathon training specifically.

Lift. Eat. Run, if you insist.

It depends on which programme you choose and how many days you will be running. 3/4/5

Normally, I just stick to upper body weights as I find I can never get a good lower body weights session in as my legs are either tired or being rested for another run.

Look at the likes of CrossFitEndurance.com or Alex Viada's the Hybrid Athlete is a great resource for this form of training! http://www.jtsstrength.com/articles/2015/04/01/the-hybrid-athlete/
