Have you lot heard about this?! A 42 acre development on the Wide Atlantic Way? Disgraceful! Here's an article about it - HERE

    <mod snip>

The article in Donegal Now says, "The Department explained that the developers of the oyster farm had adhered to all required planning regulations, and no objections had been lodged." The apparent reason for this is that no one saw the planning application as it was published in the Donegal Democrat which has very low circulation figures in Inishowen and isn't allowed for a planning application in Inishowen anyway - Inishowen Electoral Area -
DERRY PEOPLE/DONEGAL NEWS(Friday edition for the following DED'S only:- Manorcunningham, Newtowncunningham, Castleforward And Killea )
DERRY JOURNAL (Tuesday & Friday editions)
INISH TIMES (excluding the DED of MANORCUNNINGHAM)
INISHOWEN INDEPENDENT (excluding the DED OF MANORCUNNINGHAM)
DONEGAL DEMOCRAT IS ONLY ACCEPTABLE FOR THE DED OF MANORCUNNINGHAM (Thursday edition only)

    :(

This is a discussion forum and not somewhere you can look to in order to garnish signatures for a petition.

    Sorry, but thread locked.

After talking this over with Penfailed Im reopening the thread for general discussion/debate with the caveat that no links to or mention of any form of petition are posted.

There is quite a difference in the legislation between applying to the Dept of Marine for a licence to develop an oyster farm and applying to Donegal Coco for planning permission. Was this development subject of a planning application?

Apparently so. It was supposedly on view to the public for the required time at Buncrana Garda Station if anyone requested to see it but as no one knew, there were no requests and no one objected. The development is huge! From Stragill Strand to the Curragh Hole -

"Apparently" doesn't really answer anything. The situation is that there wasnt a planning application at all. Planning applications are NEVER available for viewing in Garda stations - only in the planning dept of the local authority.

You have posted an extract from the councils website which lists newspapers in which planning notices may be published but this has nothing whatsoever to do with an application for a marine licence. Different rules and different regs.

If you or anyone else are trying to drum up opposition to the granting of a licence then you need to at least get the facts right. Thats not a criticism as such but merely an observation.

I would be grateful if you could let us know what these are.

I live not far from this development. Cannot get my head around the fact that this has gone ahead especially in a very scenic area. Anecdotally I believe that
access to the site has been restricted/stopped and completion of the project has been delayed.

You should find a lot of info here including details of how to appeal the granting of a aquaculture licence.
