Does anyone have any at home tips to remove permanent black hair dye? I'v read about washing up liquid/head & shoulders etc. does anyone have any experience with this?

My hair is naturally dark brown. I have been putting permanent black hair dye in my hair for 12 years now. I have used 2 stripping kits from boots in my hair and it has lift the roots to a brown/red colour about 2inches but the rest of my hair is black. Should I keep going with the strippers?
I really do not want to bleach my hair as it's very thin, and the reason I'm lightening my hair is that my scalp is becoming noticeable when my hair sways, I'd like to lighten it up so its not so sever looking. Therefore bleaching is out of the question I need to hold onto every strand of hair I have!
Thanks for reading and any help.

Olive oil is good. Just put on and leave for an hour then wash out.

If the colour remover isn't working you'll need to get it striped in a hairdressers - that means bleach. I only know about colour b4, but they state that it can't remove black or red hair dye.

Go for a consultation with a colour specialist would be my advice

Go to a hairdresser and see if they can do a bleach bath(sounds way more scary that what it is) and get them to do a deep conditioning treatment afterwards. It will be a bit pricy and will take a while but should not be too damaging for your hair.
